Default Why is Boise ranked ahead of TCU?

Boise beat a BCS team at home.

TCU beat 2 BCS teams on the read.

Yet the team with pretty Broncos on their helmets gets ranked much higher.

Neither factors in the BCS equation anyway in the long run.

I guess pollsters account for the Smurf Turf as an intangible.

I think it had to do with Oregon being a top-10 team when Boise beat them.

Clemson and Virginia obviously aren't even sniffing the top 25.

At this time I have Boise State ahead of TCU in my rankings...........but I do have TCU ahead of USC.

USC continues to be the most overrated team in the TOP TEN coaches poll.

    Fish,

You would rank Cincinnati over USC?

Cincinnati to me, is the most overrated top 10 team.

USC lost to WASH............this is a big negative in my opinion..........and I don't care if USC had 20 guys injured for the game.........THEY LOST to an AVERAGE team.

That is a tough game to play.

    USC did lose to Washington.

But they also went on the road and beat Ohio State.

And about that Washington lost----The Washington staff is basically USC North.

Sarkasian and Holt know more about USC's team than they did their own Washington team.

Not excusing USC's loss. But every team stumbles.

Point being Boise is essentially playing a one-game season. In a game against a flawed team with a new coach also at home.

While Oregon is probably a bit bitter than Virginia and Clemson, I hardly think the difference is as much as some may think. Two road victories certainly are equal to or greater than one home win.

Quite simply Boise is ranked higher this year based on previous years' results. How that factors into the present year is beyond me since they are two separate entities.

Mathematically, there is some correlation between a previous team and a current team but it is not to the degree that the pollsters weight it. Just as the flawed thinking that team A beating team B has more merit when team B does well going forward. Were this the case Northern Iowa and Arkansas State would be favored and beat Penn State based on the results versus Iowa. If anyone would cared to give me Penn State at pick in such matchup, I would in the hyperbolic words of a pseudo-revered tout "back up the freaking Brinks Truck".

In my eyes, Boise will finish the year 1-0 and TCU will finish the year 2-0. That is versus BCS teams. Everything else is completely irrelevant.

I don't see Virginia or Clemson going into the Rose bowl and doing much. Point being that Oregon is much better than Clemson and Virginia.

Virginia would bury Oregon if they played today with Masoli injured
