Default Worst BEAT I Can Remember

Played 2nd half OVER in the Ohio-Akron game at 23.5. Ohio scores to take a 19-7 lead with the 2nd half total now at 23 points. The extra point would get me 24 and the win. Frank Solich went for TWO. Conversion failed. On top of that, there was a missed FG and Ohio went for it I think on 4th down & goal with about :30 seconds left instead of kicking a FG.

If anyone can tell me why the F you would go for TWO in that situation with the game pretty much DONE ... I'll give you a shiny SBR point.

I had the over for the game at 51....makes me remember why I usually don't cap totals and just follow you. I swear any time i cap a total and think i have an edge, the game goes 20-25 points against me.

I have seen worse. I had the over once in a 2nd half (Kansas) and I would have cashed if the RB wasn't tackled at the 1 yard line with 2 seconds left.

That seems more like bad luck --- I mean I just don't understand why you go for two there. A blocked XP, I could live with, but a stupid coaching decision like this will haunt me for the night at least.

Well the 2 point conversion would have put them up 2 full scores...maybe they were afraid of a TD and an onside kick, recovery, and TD. I don't know. It doesn't make a great deal of sense, but I saw something nearly identical happen in the Ball St. game last week. In fact, at one point I had to root FOR Ball St. to convert a 2 point conversion even though I bet AGAINST them because I needed Toledo to have a reason to chuck it downfield, which they did, and eventually covered. CFB is crazy mang.

For those that had the UNDER it wasnt a BAD BEAT. Always 3 sides to every bet.

    Winners, Losers, and Pushers.

Had you played the UNDER you would be happy as OTW making a guest appearance on "Queer eye for the straight guy"

I lost Texas Tech 2nd half line a couple weeks ago because of a missed extra point with no time on the clock.

    Exactly.

If u bet the MAC be prepared for some hanky panky.

Few years ago I had Miami(OH) ML vs Bowling Green. With Miami leading 9-7, BG failed to convert on 4th down effectively ending the game.

But a ref called offsides on the Miami CB givng BG 1st down. Replay showed the ref doing some theatrics and pointing to the "infraction" before throwing the flag. The problem was that the CB was 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage. The only one over it was the WR. It was such a blatantly bad call that even the ESPN commentators wondered out loud if he had money on the game.

After the ref saved BG, they saved them again later with another terrible call. This helped BG get a shot at a short FG for the win. Thankfully the gambling God stepped in and the kicker slipped on the muddy field and missed it badly.

But thats why I avoid the MAC like the plague.

Perhaps with the game out of hand he wanted to practice his two-point conversion in a real game situation. Considering his kicker had made two field goals previously he had a known commodity there, thus the decision to go for two.

How about having an 8 team parlay with 7 in the bag and only needing the Yankees to beat Seattle, leading 2-1 with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the bottom of the ninth, with RIVERA PITCHING, and he gives up a double and then a walk-off homer to Suzuki?

Now THAT is a bad beat!

1A: Cardinals/Texans Over 50 today. Two cracks from inside the one, Schaub air mails an easy score and then Houston tries to cram it up the middle on 4th when they probably should have just mashed Schaub up the gut twice. This one boiled my blood worse just because I was watching and there was no reason the game should have been this close, but the false hope came.

3 that immediately come to mind.

bowling green (team??) completely screwing up to let buffalo come back from 13 down with 4 minutes left last year. a comeback's a comeback. fine, but this was really weird decisions

arizona running out clock on the 1 yard line vs. cmu earlier this year with quite a bit of time left. i don't know what happened to get them to the 1 yard line.

clemson, with woody danzler, finally has fsu beat for first time in ages. huge game... . fsu incompletion on 4th down with 90 seconds left.......... until probably the latest hit i've ever seen by CB. what was he thinking? it was ludicrous.

We all have those crazy losses.

My worst bad beat was the Michigan/Colorado game in 1994....the one where Colorado heaved it up 60 yards, gets tipped and then catches it to cover and beat Michigan.

I was in graduate school at the time---and lost 300 bucks. It felt like 20K.
