Friend I work with is on fire
Anybody have this kind of shit happen to you? I brought up the fact that I was playing that Oregon/Boise game 1st week of the season. This guy hounded me for 2 hours to get me to place a bet for him. I finally told him I couldn't get it in, because I didn't want to mess with it. But he kept asking about online gambling, and said he used to have a guy a couple years ago but hasn't played in a few seasons. Basically, I gave him the itch again.
Since then, he's gotten up with a local through some friend. He talks NON-STOP about his plays all night, telling people we work with who have no clue nor give a flying f\*\*k about his bets. I've tried to lay low and make it seem like I don't play a whole lot. Babe in the woods. Meanwhile this kid is running around annoying everybody with his parlay this, parlay that shit to anyone standing still for more than 30 seconds. He's become a punchline.
Thing is, this guy is on fire! He's betting $100 a game and he plays 2 teamers for $100 on most of his plays. His in my ear all day about who do you like, who do you like. He plays all the games on TV. He makes all the classic mistakes. But he's winning. He keeps fvcking winning and it's starting to piss me off a little. He literally won 9 straight bets last weekend, with a couple parlays. And it's legit. He tells me his plays before they go off and I shake my head and tell him he's gonna lose it all soon. But he's up $1200 bucks in 3 weeks. He came in Tuesday flashing 10 $100 bills to me cuz he just saw his guy.
Tonight he comes in and asks me if I know much about baseball. Seriously. He says the Yankees have gotta be the closest thing to a lock so he layed $310 to win $100. I said you are fvcking stupid and you are going to lose all that money the way you play. He just laughs. He says he layed $110 on Nevada and tells me how they always blow out LA Tech when they are favored. Kid;s clueless, but sure enough Yankees tie it in the 9th and he's running around briagging about his luck. Now I see Nevada covered. The guy is like 11-2 now in the last 2 weeks. And he knows NOTHING compared to what we do.

He is too mathy. Square as shit. Almost always taking favs. I just texted him to see who he's on tomorrow. I hate to do it, but I'm gonna give him the SBR jinx.
He's on TCU and LSU (loves LSU in this spot)....then says "I got a few others". I'm trying to get those out of him now.

Jinx him. That's what I'm gonna do. I can't believe the guy is getting cocky now though. He's gone coy on me. "I have a few more." LOL. Last week he was telling complete strangers about his plays.

Well, I'll try to post his action if I can squeeze it out of him. We'll see if he stays hot....
I can't fade anybody though. I'm not even gonna play.

This kid's a trip. He just called me and I answered. He seems like he's a little in awe himself, not too cocky this time. Just kind of like, Can you believe this shit? But then he goes into, swear to god, tout mode on me. Asks if I want his picks (yes), and startes breaking down the games over the phone. Felt like I was on a 1-800-TOUT line. I was laughing off mic and doing that hand pump thing like JJ when he's got someone on a roll. It was great.
Anyway, all favs. He loves :
LSU (outright winner!)
ALA (comfortable cover)
TCU (loves TCU here)
He's leaning VT and MIA....also mentioned ECU, but says he takes this shit seriously. He plans on waking up at like 9:30 tomorrow and research. I might think he's just blindly guessing, but he knows his shit....yadda yadda. Then he says he'll probably play those 3 and a couple more and also play like a 4 or 5 team parlay. Also (NFL) loves MIN (says he's laying $500 on that no matter where he stands going in) and NYJ.
He said he'd call me at 11:30 tomorrow with his actual bets.

I've been telling him that practically every day. After this phone conversation, I don't think he's clueless anymore. He knows his shit, but we all know how this story ends. He's already talking about laying $250 on this and $500 on that. Sad really.
There's no talking sense to him though, so I might as well document the downfall.

Oh yeah, he told me he's 15 for his last 16 straight wagers. I don't know if I believe quite that or not, but he is truly red hot right now. One of the craziest runs I've ever witnessed.

I'm actually kind of interested to see. I'm not touching his plays, but the kid does seem to have a knack. I even let that slip last weekend. I told him he's pretty good at this. You should have seen his face.

I've had a similar story last year. A friend just gave me $50 and asked me to place his hockey wagers online. These were all bets from Slovakia, Czech Rep, Finland second division. It was hard even to find a bookie that offers these games. However he went up to $1200 for about 2 months and then cashed out because hockey season ended in these leagues.
This year he did it again but with no success - lost 2 x $50 and gave up.

one of my friends that is very smart, and loves sports...grew up playing and still loves the game; well he sucks at picking winners.
I have another friend that really isn't the brightest person alive, but he can pick winners all the time off the top of his head.
It seems like the ppl who are into sports the most get too caught up, and over look a lot of basic stuff. Maybe not knowing any angle is better then thinking you know an angle, but the angle you know is just like the other 95% of bettors that the bookies adjust the line for, so you lose.

I just started and had a similar experience.
After a the first few weeks I was up 20% on my account balance. "This is going to be easy."
Oh yeah.
Now I am down 20% and approaching this weekend with trepidation.

my friend is the same way its SOO annoying. Last year he had a great sat/sun was +500 then if you remember Vikings vs packers last season sunday night football (maybe monday night) he bets the over 43 and his reasoning was all the primetime games have gone over for the most part he ends up winning the over by 1 point and tells me it was a great bet blah blah and wins 1000$ in a weekend betting 100/game what a joke

He'll lose a big one. Start to over-analyze. Then straight down the shitter.

why on earth would you try and jinx him? Ride that train until it stops. That's the problem with this site. People want to pretend they pick only winners and think they are some handicapping genius. Betting is a game of streaks and if we would all be a little more honest we could ride the winners and losers.

I'm just saying, why fight it? It's like betting against a team that won 7 in a row because they are "due to lose". Ride his picks until they lose. My point was that people on this site get angry when someone is picking winners because they aren't. He may be a complete douche but if he's hot ride that streak until it ends.
