ur wrong about that...I have a few friends as waiters and in cali they get minimum wage which in california is 7.25+ the Tips they get...not bad money when ur pulling 200+ a day on a weekday...so therefore they dont need Tips from everyone they serve.

Even some of that is usually due back in April (if not withheld by their employer) as the $2.13 hourly wage is not enough to cover anywhere near their entire tax obligation for a year.

I would be shocked if your friends are actually making $7.25 an hour working at the type of restaurants you described. $2.13 an hour is an industry standard as far as I know.

No, my younger brother works at one of the nicest hotels on the coast as a waiter in their dining room and he makes proper minimum wage as there are no exemptions in California for people who accept gratuities. Everyone who's legally employed in the state must make at least our minimum wage of $8/hour, which is precisely what my brother is paid. Certain metro areas in California then enact "living wages" which supercede state law and increase the minimum wage within city/metro limits to compensate for very high costs of living in certain parts of California. The City/County of San Francisco has a living wage of $9.79/hour and Santa Cruz has the highest in the state at $12/hour (only offered to those who don't receive health insurance from their employer, those who get health benefits can be paid $8/hour).

my old lady waits tables at one of the best seafood restaurants on the coast of maine...waits on tons of fvcking tourists and rude flatlanders from away...and yes, she does remember the ones that stiffed her and yes, things do "happen" to their food...the good part is that even with the ignorant fvcks that leave no tip/ shitty tip she still comes home with $700 average for a double...on a side note, chinese folks and canadians are notoriously bad tippers but far and away the worst are southerners...she said anybody comes in looking for "sweet tea" and/or "hush puppies" is almost an automatic no tip and can expect plenty of extra flavor in their tartar sauce...never mind her former life,buztah, my wife is a horrible person in this life skinlips.
