Default Its Time To Face The Facts

    1. Most All of the funding sources available to US players will be gone.

    2. How Long No One knows.

    3. Books will create alternate funding sources will they work ? Some will some will not.

    4. Some books will eliminate US players some will not.

    5. The books that allow US players will operate in this manner.

Player sends *********** to a book with a tracking number.

Player calls book and gives them the amount sent with the tracking number.

Book post the amount the player is sending into his account and allows player to play on the funds that have been sent.

No withdrawals can be made untill the funds sent have been received and processed by the book.

Withdrawals will be sent back to client with a *********** and a tracking number.

If you give a book a tracking number that never shows up you get banned from that book. This keeps the Scammers out.

This is the worst case Scenerio. Accept this now and quit dwelling on the past and you will be a much happier person. If the books come up with a way around the Feds great but if they do not this will be the way we play.

Aces I am leaning that way also, I am thinking that some of them already had this planned out. I have been with BetJamaica and thegreek for about 10 years now at first I sent W.U. and ** to them with amounts of less than $500 without a problem. Just keep the amounts low and you will not have a problem.

It's a pretty sobering assessment but it's basically all true...the only thing I would add is that players should brace themselves as it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

As of now....if you have no money in your account you are in the best possible position. Consider yourself lucky. Right now, sit back and let things play out. If we're lucky, things may be clearer by the time the Super Bowl rolls around.

Same here I was playing off shore before off shore was popular. The way I listed is the way they did it in the past. The Feds can regulate many things but who I send a *********** to isn't one of them.

I agree Buddybear I took out my last 1500 today from matchbook. I really dont want to see my money get stuck along in a transaction somewhere or a book unexpectedly close. I think all US gamblers should wait untill this industry stabelizes and then make a decision whether it is safe to start playing again. When you add the factor of loosing your money right now to possibilities other than gambling it, I think the choice is obvious. I am plaining to wait untill baseball season and see what happens.

Dont give up on the books yet guys. Thats what Big Brother wants you to do. By making it difficult to play they hope most players quit. If we do that its over. The books that stand strong deserve our support. I'll be playing this weekend if for no other reason than to say you cant take it away from me.

I would think twice about that after what we have seen with this administration;and dont forget about the Patriot Act, with this they can basically do whatever they want. I am sure the neteller guys thought the same thing.

Default My vision of the future - additions to Aces post

My vision of the future builds on Ace's post.

Money in and out will eventually be mainly money orders, although there will be a period in which paper checks are being used.

Banks are not going to allow accounts for either sports bettors or sportsbooks. Those who open accounts for sportsbetting, will eventually have them closed by the bank. Banks are going to close the accounts of those who write 4 figure checks over and over again to Sportsbooks.

There will be third party payment processors which pop up to fill the void caused by neteller, but these will quickly be spotted and flagged and out of business (or leave the US market) within and increasingly shorter period of time from when they appeared. Of course it will be necessary to use the small services, as the larger ones will be known by your bank which will close your account if you use them.

I think the sportsbooks will have a system to transfer between each other. There will be a sportsbook transfer service, which will automate this and make it very fast. We will be able to go online and quickly transfer funds from Olympic to Wsex, for example. It is possible that these transfer services will allow one to go somewhere overseas and make a cash or *********** deposit.

Of course this is going to hurt the industry tremendously. You can expect a big shrinking of the sports betting market, although the rest of the world will keep it going.

I do think the U.S. govt will be successful at making a substantial cut in the volume of funds going from U.S. residents to these books, although persistent bettors will still be able to send their funds and play a cat and mouse game, with their funds at considerably more risk than they are today.

Expect a lot of sportsbooks to go out of business. To have funds at any books other than the top 10 is extremely foolish and will continue to be foolish for the next several years at least.

We'll be alright. Gambling is human nature. Human nature isn't going anywhere. My money is in the A books, and I will go on betting as usual.

I'm willing to bet the US government can't believe how easy that was; the domino effect that started with Neteller. People are too easily intimidated. That's for sure.

Thats what i'm saying Dark Horse as long as we keep playing we win. Yea it will be more difficult but not impossible. What we need is for the books to stand up and say we're not going away. The book owners need to stay the hell out of the US.

I hate to quote posts this long but had to make an exception here.

Default Expect a lot of closings and stiffings from lower tier books

I'm telling you, pinnacle leaving the U.S. market, now neteller, and a few more giants to come. This can cause a run on the bank at all sportsbooks, and there are going to be quite a few sportsbooks that can't handle it.

Stay in the top 10, and get out of the others.

    You have all been warned.

The funny part of all this is that I consider my new Neteller to be... Pinnacle Sports! I can't think of a safer place to have my money online, and anyone who I want to do serious business with will do transfers with them. In fact, I'm very happy that my bankroll is online rather than back in the USA, where it could be very difficult to move back; I'll only be taking out money to pay the IRS and the rent. Yes, it is a risk, but the last thing I want is to be stranded for months with no way to deposit and watch the MLB season go by.

Most books will lose at least 60% of players and just be run out of a small office.
