From the e-gold website:I recall it being rather difficult to fund one's account insofar as deposits were not made through e-gold directly, but rather through online currency dealers.e-gold is an electronic currency ... 100% backed at all times by gold bullion in allocated storage.
e-gold is integrated into an account based payment system that empowers people to use gold as money. Specifically, the e-gold payment system enables people to Spend specified weights of gold to other e-gold accounts. Only the ownership changes - the gold in the treasury grade vault stays put.
Another disadvantage for those that to tend to transact in their own local currency is that e-gold holding are denominated by weight not by currency value. This means that fluctuations in the price of gold will cause the local currency value of an account to similarly fluctuate.

CRIS did mention something about free atmonline payments, although I'm sure atmonline charges fees...anyone know the fee structure?...damn, I miss neteller already...

Does anyone here remember this rumor that was floating out there?
I remember reading somewhere that egold customers could sign up anonymously to protect there trading habits. I don't know if thats true or not, but thats what the talk was way back then.

Seems like eGold would be a reasonable alternative to Neteller. As others have mentioned, a bit difficult to fund, but once funded it would make it easier to move money around to different books, recieve payouts and so forth. All payments are irrevocable, so books would not have to worry about chargebacks or nsf.
