Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the contest and the free money, but I do have one small gripe.

The nitwits that did basically THE SAME as The Prick, but were fortunate to have their loss be a +100 or -105 play, end up with $100 each for going 3-1 while the people who go 4-0 only get $165???

The lesson here boys is to not play any -110's. Play all of the +100s you can because you can go 3-1 in future weeks and still net $100.

Player B plays the following:

-110 (Win)

The Prick goes 3-1, +2.90
Player A goes 3-1, +3.00
Player B goes 4-0, +5.00

Player A wins $99 but Player B only wins $160?

Just seems stupid to me. Last year, the 3-1 guys would not have gotten paid.

It is obvious that their software is not ready for the change. Under the rules we used last year, the Prick goes 3-1, +2.90 units. So, the base unit is +2.9, the total units that beat the Prick are:

24 x 2.1 units + 1 x 1.1 units + 3 x 0.1 units + 6 x 0.05 units = 52.1 units

That means every unit gets $5000 divide by 52.1 = $95.97

24 guys get 2.1 x $95.97 = $201.54
1 guy get 1.1 x $95.97 = $105.57
3 guys get 0.1 x $95.97 = $9.6
6 guys get 0.05 x $95.97 = $4.8

Because the Prick did badly in the past, always in the red, they set the base unit to 0, So they change the software to calculate the total units that are above the red zone and not the total units that beat the PRICK.

If this is the rule changed this year, the PRICK has to pick using the general line, i.e. -110 on Tuesday, if he goes 3-1, he always gets $2.9 units. Try to look for lines better than -110 when the Lou change the line to the sponsor's line. Even you go 3-1, +2.91 units, you can get $90+.

This is what is fair...so what you are saying is right now they are using a base unit of "0", instead of 2.9 which obviously gives the guys who got 2.95 way more of an impact on total winner units, making the 5 unit winner have less of a percentage.

Thanks guys. We have a few things or tweaks we are looking at. We will have a close look at the math and possibly change the formula before the end of the contest but it will need a close look. Of course if you take +100 or higher you are getting the worse of the line in theory. In theory its easier to win a -110 game than it is to win a +110 game. I know we all understand that so now we will look closer at the math.

The way it is set up this year, lets people win more money, instead of chump change. Going 3-1 is still good, I know it's not 4-0, but it's not a crappy week; and for one person, 3-1, only gets 5 dollars, compared to the guy that goes 4-0, getting 200 dollars, now that doesn't sound fair.

If anything I think if someone goes 4-0 the same week the prick does, they should still get 100 dollars. But I know it's called beat the prick, ....and that is in the rules that no one gets anything.

next time it might be you who benefits. It's a free and fun contest. let's not always find something to complain about. I really don't think they should change the rules mid-game. Last year, just about everyone won some money. Should be the same this year. Let's not quibble about how much.

i realized this a couple of weeks back.

they dont get paid on the percentage they beat the prick by, their share is based on their whole unit size.

like lets say
group A goes 4-0 +5.00 units
group B goes 3-1 +3.00 units
prick goes 3-1 +2.90 units

group A wins 5/8 of the prize pool (who really BEAT the prick)
group B wins 3/8 of the prize pool (who actually TIED the prick)

when it should be based on the amount you beat the prick by.
so
group A's MOV is 2.1 units
group B's MOV is .1 units

group A's share is 2.1/2.2 or 95% of the prize pool
group B's share is .1/2.2 or 5%


the way they are currently grading the contest, they should also let anyone who goes 4-0 +5.05 win vs prick going 4-0 +5.00. and let the couple of posters who beat the prick's 4-0 +5.00 split the 5k.
