Michael, a total hype machine. He's good, but not great yet.

i don't think it's a fair comparison raiders. your comparing an NFL'er to a college QB here. now if you were talking about strictly college here, i'd say Marcus.

I think Michael is the choice, because Marcus Vick isn't nearly rated as high in comparison to Michael in the media's eye.

they were both in the media eye. but, i think marcus was put under a microscope a little bit over because of this:Originally Posted by OWNED

If you can't succeed with all the talent in the world and a rich and famous brother, you've got to be pretty damn stupid.
after he came back, he got all the media attention, along with all the hype of being mike's little brother that happen to play at VT.

I know he's hyped, just not nearly as much as Michael. I must say I think both have a lot of room for improvementOriginally Posted by bigboydan

There's a reason why he didn't start his first two+ years. He is a fourth round draft pick at best.

I agree with Raiders on both points. Wait...am i drunk or do I really agree??![]()

You keep hearin people say they are overrated because they are black qbs. I think they are overrated because they are fast and can run the ball which is something you cant teach.
The media and the fans are always looking for the next best thing and the all in one monster athlete at his position. In the NBA... anytime you have a really tall point guard or maybe a huge center who can hit 3s or if you want to toss race into it, a white guy who can get big dunks... the media judges them by what they are on paper when they havent done shit. They judge them by the tools they have when they havent performed all that well w/ em.
Its not enough to be solid (not intended to quote AK) these days and do your job. Its GAY...you are judged on potential....which is why sports suck today.

They just need to learn how to throw the ball and stop making such bonehead decisions.

Michael's the better runner, but Marcus will be a real quarterback. That being said, they're both horribly overrated.
Did anyone hear what Vick said today at the postgame press conference? He said he doesn't want people to criticize him when he does poorly. He only wants them to praise him when he does well. Hi, I'm Earth, have we met? Michael Vick has always bothered me, but his comments today really got under my skin.

Micaheal Vick is hands down the most overrated QB. He has some nice runs and can really move in the pocket but can't throw the ball worth a darn. Lot of those runs end up on sportscenter and become very salient for people.
No where near the QB that say Manning, Mcnabb, Favre, Brady, Rothlesberger are.

Buddy
Do you really think McNabb belongs in that group??? Vick could get alot done with the support McFlabb has.

I agree, I think Donovan is grossly overrated and this is coming from a Syracuse alum who went to school with him.Originally Posted by Brick Tamland

I don't think McNabb belongs in that group either. McNabb is almost as overrated as Vick is. I can't stand Terrell Owens, but the stuff he's saying about McNabb is right on.
If you're talking about the best three quarterbacks in the NFL today, the list is:
1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Brett Favre
Ask any NFL player or coach who the best QB in the league is and they're going to answer one of these three guys.

I mean you can't deny the results Mcnabb has had...4 straight NFC championship games, a super bowl appearance, a few pro bowls....I think he is solid. He's in a good situation with a good supporting cast a good coach a good system overall.
I like him...he's made some big plays over the years. I don't see any reasons not to include him in that list...he's definitely top 5 in my opinion.

I always find it funny to listen to people who rarely watch Favre play bad mouth him when they don't have a clue. No player in the NFL today, 5 years ago, or even 10 years ago is more valuable to his team than Favre. Contrary to what you see and hear on ESPN, MOST of his interceptions come from mistakes his receivers make. People from outside of Wisconsin don't understand Favre because they don't see everything he does on the football field. They just see highlights of his INTs on ESPN. I've watched every minute of every game that Favre has played in Green Bay. My stepdad used to work for the Packers. Last season, a poll of GMs said that if they were starting a franchise, Favre would be the player they'd build the team around. Favre has never had good WRs. Robert Brooks? Antonio Freeman? Bill Schroeder? Donald Driver? All these guys are average WRs on other teams with different QBs. Favre makes everyone around him stars. Favre is a legend who won't get his due until he's done playing. Another season or two and he'll have the numbers and the resume to make an argument for being the best QB in NFL history.

As long as he gets the hell out of Green Bay.Originally Posted by Senator7

Why? Next year, we'll have the whole offense back healthy. Not to mention that Terrell Owens has expressed interest in catching passes from Favre. Could a trade (Owens for Walker) be in the works? The Packers will be horrible this year but will be right back contending for the division next season once their offense is healthy again. When Favre leaves Green Bay, it will be the same time he leaves the league. He won't play for another team and he said earlier this week that he won't play for another coach either.Originally Posted by Razz

First of all, I wasn't aware that Marcus Vick was that highly rated. I don't think anyone ever considered him among the top 10 QBs in college football this year.
McNabb and Favre are in virtually the same situation (the Packers have no running game, and the Eagles have even less, and Donald Driver and Greg Lewis are the teams' #1 receivers), except that the Eagles defense is a little better. McNabb is a fabulous team leader, and unquestionably is one of the five best quarterbacks in football.

Senator, my point was that this is his last year. He's not going to come back and go 5-11 again. Ahman Green is the most overrated RB in the NFL, and that defense is still horrible. They won't have a winning record next year under any circumstances short of a complete overhaul of the roster. Not to mention the fact that they have Mike Sherman coaching the team.

Green Bay should want no part of TO. He would probably be fine as long as Favre is around, but once he retires, TO would go nuts about someone like Aaron Rodgers not getting him the ball.
SBR Founder Join Date: 8/22/2005
I don't expect Green to be back and I agree that he is overrated. I, personally, expect Davenport to be the new starter unless they use their very high first round draft choice to grab someone (insert star college RB here) which is very likely. To be honest, the defense hasn't been that bad this year. If you had this year's defense with last year's offense, the Packers wouldn't have lost many, if any, games so far this year. DC Jim Bates has been an incredible upgrade and has done a great job so far with mediocre personnel. Sherman will get this season and next season to turn things around. If they're bad next year, Sherman is gone as HC and Bates is in. The only way they could have gotten Bates is if Bates thought he had a chance to be the head coach sometime. I doubt Green Bay wants anything to do with TO, but Favre is the one QB in the league who could keep him in line. I would love to see TO say something about Favre. There's nothing more amusing than watching Favre yell at his WRs (Schroeder and Ferguson notoriously) on the field or on the sidelines. Its hilarious. IF there is a team and a QB in the NFL that could put up with TO, its Favre and the Packers. That was the point I was making. I actually have been impressed with what I've seen of Rodgers so far. I think he's going to be a very effective NFL QB. He won't be Peyton Manning, but he might be Carson Palmer and that's good enough for the Packers.

Hey Razz,
Just heard something interesting. The Eagles have already said they are getting rid of Owens, its just a matter of when. If they get rid of him this season and release him to waivers, the teams with the worst records in the NFL will have first shot at him. Currently, that would be the Houston Texans and the Green Bay Packers. Maybe my Owens to Green Bay conspiracy theory isn't so far fetched after all.![]()
