Thumbs down What is the reasonable amount of time to wait for a wager to be graded?

Now, I'll preface this statement by admitting that I'm anal about record keeping (what a shocker for me to be anal about something, eh?). I track all my wagers in Excel and I don't like to grade them in my own accounting until they've been graded by the book(s) who took the action. This isn't just a matter of preference either, the longer it takes the book to grade affects what I have available to wager with, obviously.

I've been having unconscionably long waits at one of the books I play with, one with an A- rating on SBR. Wagers in the Big Four sports take 15-30 minutes, and wagers on smaller sports (tennis and golf mostly) are taking at least 4 hours, more often it's closer to 12. I've contacted them via Live Chat and e-mail several times over the past couple weeks, and always been told the matter would be resolved in minutes. Sometimes it is, sometimes I end up waiting another few hours.

My question is what do you think is a reasonable length of time for grading wagers? Should certain sports have an expectation of much longer intervals for grading? Should a person feel guilt over pestering a book several times a week to complain about pending wagers that have been lingering for hours? Do books have a "shit list" that those people go on?

Your thoughts and opinions are most appreciated.

if i#m betting on swedish handball , i dont expect my wagers to be graded within a couple of minutes.
Major Sports (nfl,nba,mlb,...) should be graded within 10 minutes.

Update: It took exactly five hours for my golf wager to be graded. This was better than the 12 hours it took for last week's CFL games, but still so far below any reasonable standard that I'm not sure how I feel about this book anymore.

Anybody have an idea which shop I'm talking about?

Years ago I made a wager on an MLS soccer game that ended at about 3pm EST, but went several hours without being graded, so I contacted the book. They said "The soccer grading department went home" and it ended up taking 22 hours to get paid.

if it's 5d, they have so many bazillion things that have to be graded by hand that I'd cut them some slack. I don't know why they would be slow on the 1h/2h/game wagers on american football/basketball/baseball/hockey though.

The original thread states the rating is A-, so I'm assuming Matchbook. 5Dimes is A+.

    Matchbook was downgraded recently.

Good thread Rogue. I don't expect to wait any more than a few minutes for any wagers on the "Big Four" sports, and that is nearly always the case. Soccer as well, now that I think of it. The only sport I consistently run into trouble with in terms of having to wait out a grading is Forumla 1 racing, and even then it's only with one particular highly rated book. I've had to wait half a day/full day for those wagers to be graded, at which point I have no reservations about contacting them and gently reminding them that the race in question ended 24 hours ago.

In fact, it's happened with such regularity that I often wonder if they would have ever graded the wager in question or simply have left it in "pending purgatory" until I had long since expired and rotted away.

Nail on the head, Lou. It is indeed Matchbook that's asleep at the wheel, and it's getting to be interminable. When they take hours to grade wagers half the time they're holding me back in terms of available funds to place offers on the exchange. If they expect to stay in business they need to commit to acting like a big time book and not some college student's project that they'll update "when they get around to it."

I think that on a local sport, having to wait more than about 15 mins after the end is unaccaptable. When it comes to sporting events such as lesser known European soccer matches or Tennis matches that may not be widely broadcast on Television I can wait an hour or two.

Even handwritten wagers should be graded within 15 minutes.

    Hours? That is crazy.
