Might be, Vegas might be behind the pressure and then usa with legalize it down the road and vegas making out like bandits. It sure sounds like a decent plan.

Money laundering comes to mind. Weapon industry is loving it. So are Halliburton and its many offshore side-outs. US taxpayers money straight into the pockets of the corporations that finance our government. And at the cost of the lives of many brave men. That war was based on lies from the outset, as most people seem to realize, but the corporately sponsored media have no interest in going after the story and dig up the truth. Smoke and mirrors.

I tend to doubt Vegas muscling theories, Vegas casinos are divided about 95% slot machines, 75% video poker, 30% table games, 68% a bunch of restaurants and shops, and in most cases some small corner dedicated a few cubic feet of space for sport betting, good lord if you find a Leroy's book sitting there.
Sports Betting is trivial revenue for Vegas, it is there to attract the hubbies while the wife pours in buckets o'coins into slot machines, although there are a few nice race books, LV Hilton , Mirage properties a couple of others.
In the mid 90's Hollywood Park when R.D.Hubbard ran the show there, they were pissed off at Vegas sport books for rebating and witheld the satellite signal. Vegas books were dark for awhile and they (Vegas books) eventually caved. I very, very much doubt they wield as much clout as movies or books or gambler's imaginations may make them out to.

Art Vandleigh is right. 90% of casino exec's in Vegas don't even look at the sportsbook part of the balance sheet, as it is that trivial to the overall revenue.

Yeah, it's not that people don't bet a lot on sports in Vegas because a pretty good amount is wagered, plenty of $billions$, it's just that the money doesn't get turned over often enough to get a significant hold as compared to the other parts of a casino. I mean even someone playing a dinky quarter video poker machine at 5 coins per hand and 10 hands per minute will grind $750 through the machine in an hour times thousands of machines, even small percentage holds blow away anything held at sportsbooks. Just not enough sportsbook clout there - for now.

Ive always thought Vegas had a hand in it, and still do.
They would make out big, if they could get their sportsbooks online. I just hope they offer reduce juice when they do.

Let me play devil's advocate for a second...
We all know the govt. wants their cut. But they also need some kind of positive social program to be set up, (ie. healthcare, education, anything that helps childeren because its always about the children, ... ) Right now there not getting one red cent off internet gaming, I would be pretty annoyed with this situation too. I still think it will all be legal, but some positive shit better be set up to offset the people who don't gamble, especially when the politicians got to explain why they're issuing liscences to open up slot palors in your local laundry mat. Slots are popping up EVERYWHERE but a portion of the booty has to go to some civic purpose... Right now they aint getting shit.... And they're pretty pissed about it.
