    Default Moneyline versus Pointspread

I was wondering if there's a chart somewhere that equated a certain pointspread to what the moneyline would be for the same game. I've been trying to play both types of betting to add an extra dimension to my betting. But, I've noticed that sometimes a dog getting 3 points will be +140 on the M.L., but sometimes much higher, maybe +175. What's the deal? Can anyone explain the nuances of the mapping between moneyline and pointspread? Thanks.

95% of all my plays are dog's ML when the line is no higher than +220

This would be a good question for Granchow or Mudcat. Those guys seem to be good at things like that.

    Just something I dug up:

    -2: -130/+110
    -2.5: -140/+120
    -3: -155/+135
    -3.5: -175/+155
    -4: -200/+170
    -4.5: -220/+180
    -5/-5.5: -240/+190
    -6: -270/+210
    -6.5: -300/+220
    -7: -330/+250
    -7.5/-8/-8.5: -360/+280
    -9/-9.5: -400/+300
    -10: -450/+325
    -11: -550/+375
    -12: -600/+400
    -13: -650/+450

I wish this would of formatted better in tables, but I tried to make it easier to read with making the spread bold type.

Im sure from book to book it will be different. Its just a example of what the corresponding ML would be to the spread. Just a starter untill the big number guys come in.

I'd also say a lot of players put say 80% of their wager on the spread side, and 20% on the ML (when betting dogs of course)...

Thanks guys. I'll be digesting these numbers, seeing what I can figure out. But, at first glance it makes a lot of sense.

In football I will take the ML on dog spreads of +2.5 or less and that works out well. But for baskets I'll usually take the +2.5.

I just bet point spreads but some of what I've read makes me think I should be looking at moneylines

good point sbrjohn...unless you anticipate a very low scoring game, it's best to take a dog of 2.5 or less on the ML...more often than not the points won't matter...although I took NIU +2.5 against NW and they lost by one when the NIU coach went for two after tying the game at the end of regulation...
