Default If you exclusively use Neteller.....

If you are a US citizen or are living in the US you need to find, test and start using a backup.

I expect we will get some notice when Neteller pulls out. It could be as soon as mid Feb or as late as May.

We polled sportsbooks and found on average that out of the A+ books about 30% of all transactions involve Neteller. So there are a lot of you out there that need to start working on a backup.

Don't know about global warming, but the heat is on in the US.

John, maybe SBR can put together a little five step self help program of how to bet online in the fascist US of A? Things like which books aren't at risk of extradition to US, which books allow book-to-book transfers, money transfer methods, etc. Climate changes so fast that it may be hard to keep up with the info if it's scattered all over the forum.

I'm tired and can't keep up anymore... I'm taking everything out of neteller except the bare minimum I need to play poker and the rare sports bet here and there and leaving the money in my checking account until the climate cools down a little... good luck to the rest of you....

I don't knwo abouyt everyone else, but I knwo for a lot of us, the only reason why we use neteller is that iut is universally accepted by all books. So when we withdraw from one book, we have the option of holding the money in neteller, sending it to our bankl account, or sending it to anohter book. With so many of these other transfer methods, you are highly limited in your options.

If the large books would get together and all agree upon anohter transfer compnay, many of us would gladly switch.

The presumption is that at some time in the future they will still allow non-US customers to transfer to/from all merchants but US customers only to transfer to/from "non gaming" merchants (i.e. hardly any). BUT they have yet to say exactly what their policy will be.

Solid Pay is the one I was going to check out. Then I talked to a friend who tried them. He told me that even of the few sportsbooks that accept deposits from them, he found zero that will do withdrawals to them. And according to the SBR review of these payment processor companies, Solid Pay “has recently lost the ability to process Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs, also known as ACHs).”

Sounds like they have a long way to go to be a promising alternative to Neteller.

I can't endorse anyone, but I think Solid Pay is worth exploring if only because it best mirrors Neteller. When Neteller is no long available, I think a lot more will be signing on with them.

    Why quit altogether bro.

The old schoolers will just adapt just like we did in the old days. The young breed just basically had everything handed to them on a silver platter. If it wasn't for pioneers like SBR_John, people would still be feeling there way thru the books trying to find which books are good and which books are bad. Same thing applies with the processor stuff in the future, and your gonna have people like Mr.Dozer and Mr.John looking out for best payment options. The good part about it is the fact that were wiser nowadays opposed to way back then.

Markets tend to be very efficient and you have to look no farther than Neteller for an example. Neteller grew up in the massive shadow of Paypal. Had Paypal stayed in the gaming business Neteller would have been eternally relegated to sucking hind tit.

Another service or even several alternatives will arise and they could well be less costly and more efficient.

Thats what we are all hoping for, because those NT fees are a bit pricey for everyone.

I just do the EFT withdrawals and only use instacash when the book picks up the tab...otherwise I wait a couple of days...worth it not to be charged...cuts into profits too much...neteller's the bomb...damn I'll miss them if they shut down...

Honestly I let the account die out. Had about $18 left in the acct and never wagered with it. Was real small time back then, had that account when I was 18..

Glad I didn't win there.. Opened up a $250 account and played with it for about a year.

Sorry they screwed you man.. Guess bad things do happen to good people...

If books all get on the book-to-book transfer bandwagon, without fees, that would solve half of the problem. Would allow you to move funds around quickly.

If they did, you would only need a DC from one book, such as Cris, to withdraw your money.

    Good post Darkhorse.

When the bill passed we were contacted in Costa Rica by several very hard hitters that had solutions and needed a programming team. We do some custom programming at SBR. We decided not to take the job because of the obvious liability. But the solution wheels are turning and the loss of Neteller will have the same long term effect as the loss of Paypal. None.

    John,

The fact that SBR was smart enought to stay out of it, means a lot of bright people will stay out of the industry. If only one or two books had stopped taking US bets that would be one thing, but given how many have done so I think it signals they fear the US and realize that almost no bank will work with them. So I don't expect any lower price solution and the solutions that do arise will be SO MUCH more risky to the player and the book.

Antigua and their stand against the US might be only good hope for a comprehensive solution, but then all the US has to do is isolate Antigua banking and that could be over quick too.

I hope their is a good solution, but I have a feeling will get so bad and then maybe long after will get better.

Appreciate the realism in this post. Don't see many across the forums with all of them trying to get their cut by having their players move their funds here and there. Don't feel especially safe with the current offshore climate considering it is not of the question Neteller will be kaput after the Super Bowl.
