My local is not just some guy I met off the street so it's nothing I have to worry about. But like I said before it just isn't the same.

It's a shame it has come to this.

I think Bowmans was privately owned by its namesake though I'm not certain . . .

I was going to be done at the end of the football season anyway. I am a recreational player that its not worth the risk. I will be back in 3-7 years when the US makes online gambling legal and regulated. It will happen, it is just a matter of time.

If your going out searching for a local be careful, because a lot of them are basically nothing more than a D rated type book.

Yes DAN,but at least you can put your hands on them rather than chase a name without a face.

The show will always go on. It hurts to lose the best and the industry leader. But there are still great books out there that will absorb the pinny players and be even stronger.

Where was Pinny loacated? Is there anyything unique to their business model that would cause this? Some have said privately owned/publically owned is this true? Are there some who would be unaffected because of their ownership/location, etc?

pinnacle is located on the netherlands antilles, which is sort of part of the netherlands. the netherlands have had anti-gambling laws in place for ages for dutch citizens, but no idea if the same applies to citizens of the netherlands antilles (apparently not, because there are several online bookmakers there, including also VIP). netherlands and the us definitely have all kinds of extradition treaties, but i don't know if these treaties also apply to the antilles.
anyway, if i worked at a bookie that would still be accepting us customers, it seems a lot safer to me to be in costa rica or antigua or whatever. but i'm not an expert, so i could be wrong, and this whole story might not have anything to do with the reason of pinnacle to stop taking americans.

IIRC, WSEX found, Jay Cohen, has been under indictment since 1995 and that didn't stop WSEX. I suspect WSEX isn't leaving the US market anytime soon.

Bodog is buying up US accounts from other sites, so they are planning to stick it out too.

Sportbook.com and skins just made a move to stay in the US market. I'm not sure how safe they are, but they seem to be staying.

    Same goes for VIP.

The exchanges seem to be staying as well, as the language of the anit online gaming clause of the Port Security Law seems to exclude them.

I am very curious about why Pinnacle is leaving the US market and why they are doing it so quickly. Even if they planned to leave soon, I'd think they'd wait until Feb 5th, because they are leaving a lot of money on the table.

I think next football seasn there will be ZERO books left

I do not think any owner wnats to be jailed as the usa will go to another Country and get them, Pinnacle hjad no choice unless they wanted to do 25 years in a federal Pen

The ones that stay open will draw too much attention and then will close. I think by next football season there will be some risky only type books left for usa players.

Betus finally paid me now Sportsbook.com told me to wait till next week this has been going on since the June 1 2007. If they pay me I will let you know.
