Pinnacle exits US market
Dear Pinnacle Sports' Client,
Effective Immediately….
After careful consideration, Pinnacle sports have chosen to voluntarily exit the
U.S. market. Accordingly, wagers will no longer be accepted from clients within
the U.S. as of Thursday, January 11, 2007. Those clients who are affected will
be required to withdraw their balances using the Cashier of your account.
We assure all our clients your balances are available and Pinnacle will continue providing our international clients our same great value.
Please note that any wagers currently pending in your account will be honored
by Pinnacle Sports. As your wagers are graded, you may use the Cashier of
your account to request any balance due.
You may, of course, use your Cashier now to request a withdrawal for your current balance.
Regards,
Customer Service Department

Are you kidding me? Lets see if this is correct, I didn't see anything on their site on any announcements yet... I just wouldn't believe they would do this right before football season ended though.

I highly doubt they will leave the U.S. market especially effective today.

Oh yeah? Try logging in to your Pinnacle account and placing a bet ... although now it looks like pinnaclesports.com is down.
With any luck it's "just" a hacker attack.

Just talked to someone at Pinnacle who claimed to know nothing of this.
She spoke with IT which reported that they were working on "the problem". She intimated thatt there was nothing for US clients to be concerned about. Who knows, though?

I just sent them an email as soon as I read this post. So we will find out soon enough ganchrow if it's fact or fiction.
Just don't make sense at all.
#1.) Here we have a first time poster here at SBR claiming the sky is falling.
#2.) NFL playoffs in full force.
#3.) No way pinny is gonna miss out on March Madness at all.
#4.) The new law doesn't go into effect till July. Which means there safe till then at least.

I don't think it could be a hacker, that would explain the messages but not the limit changes..
The only thing i can think of that isn't Pinn closing to the US Market is if they were writing a script that they could put into action on short notice if they ever did decide to close, and somehow it got executed by mistake.

And, if I may add, yes I am a first time poster, but I've been reading the forums or a while now. As far as I can tell my limites are .01 and the minimum bet size is 1.00. If Pinnacle has been hacked I'll stop looking for apartments in Canada, but as of right now the questions are: Window or aisle? Toronto or Vancouver? Before the Super Bowl or after?

Your right BigBoydan.
BigBoyDan,
If it was someone that has alot of posts I would believe him but I don't believe that for one bit until I hear it from someone that has been here a while and if the site says it. I just can't imagine them doing that until later on in the year, plus with congress they may change it with the WTO all over their backs, that wouldn't be surprising to me at all here.

OH BOY GUYS... CHECK THIS OUT !!
I just received an email back from Pinnacle right now:
Quote:
Hi,
Somebody told me that you company will be leaving the U.S. market on January 11, 2007. I was wondering if there was any truth to that info?
Please advise
|
Heres the email I just got back just now:
Quote:
Dear Sir,
After careful consideration, Pinnacle Sports has made the decision to voluntarily exit the U.S. market. Accordingly, as of Thursday, 11 January 2007, wagers will no longer be accepted from clients within the U.S. This decision was given much thought by the Management of Pinnacle Sports and one we do not anticipate changing.
Please be assured that all funds will be returned to our clients. You may use the Cashier of your account to process your withdrawal. Our normal policies for withdrawals will apply.
Any pending wagers in your account will be honored by Pinnacle Sports. As your wagers are graded, you may use the Cashier of your account to request any balance due.
Pinnacle Sports will continue providing our services to our non-US based clients.
We sincerely appreciate your support of our site and apologize in advance for any slight delays you may encounter as we exit our US clients.
Regards,
Customer Service Department

Isn't the most likely reason that the US government simply threatened them? They were taking the largest action as far as I can tell. Kill the big fish.

pags: No apologies needed, I understand how you felt. But there is a bright side: The rents are cheaper in Canada, and apparently Vancouver isn't totally frozen.
