Default Sportingbet Group’s accounting errors leave players without access to funds for weeks

    11.3.2005 (11:11 PM CST)
SBR Bill Dozer reports: Sportsbook.com (SBR rating C) and the Sportingbet Group’s accounting errors leave players without access to funds for weeks. The operation services over 50 sportsbooks and many players unknowingly utilized more than one of the heavily marketed websites. Sportingbet has recently told some of these players that they would have to consolidate their accounts and that they would receive their balances via book-to-book transfers to one of the family’s websites. Bettors have reported waiting two weeks for five figure sums as the book attempts to get its records in order. Although this delay is frustrating, SBR has told players that this is likely a botched procedure that will be corrected in time. SBR to inquire with management.

Again, an example of a non-rogue book which continues to fail due to administrative inefficiencies. Why on earth they can't sort out this side of the business is mind-boggling.

10% weekly helps your bottomline in terms of win percentage needed to break even.. 10% @ 5 books on a Thursday gave you an extra $500 for that weeks wagers..

They've cut down the bonuses to 5% at the same time as this, so they were certainly getting hit hard, though I suspect more from the casino players than the sportsbook ones..

I've placed a lot of bets there and never had a cancelled one. I suspect that if you stick to the major US sports then you're not going to have a problem.

Anybody know if they got those accounting errors worked out? Are these problems occurring at just sportsbook.com or all of the sportingbet books?

I have not heard anything regarding this...my biggest problem (amongst others) was I couldn't understand any of the customer service people from sportsbook.com...

All of the books are involved but some of the "investors" who handle CS as well as marketing, have the power to correct SBT mistakes at their own cost. BetUSA is an example of an SBT book that makes independent decisions and players can have more faith in although they do have one of these situations in their lap at the moment. I am interested to see how it is handled.
