Default Does anyone remember these sportsbooks?

Grand Prix, Mayan and Big Book. They had the craziest lines out there. It is a shame that there are not anymore books like them around. They also paid off when you won unlike a lot of the current books.

Could that be the reason they aren't around anymore?

These books you mention were before my time on the forums. However apparently Mayan didn't payoff as well as you think.

If I remember correctly, and I probably do not, Grand Prix and Mayan were absorbed into Big Book and then I think Big Book was absorbed into Bodog. They all had the same software so they were all probably affiliated at one time.

You could be and probably are correct bud. Bodog was on the blacklist at one point according to the SBR achieves, and those other books you mention above. However like I said above though it was before my time on the forums.

I remember when you could get a 50% cash bonus at BigBook and Bodog on a $2,000 deposit with a 1 time roll. Now, those were the days...

    Anyways, fuk it.

I think the Mayan folks came out and said Bodog used a 5 finger discount to aquire them. BigBook was the original Bodog. It was not a bad book by the standards in those days which was pretty low. They had a decent transfer system with their own eBanx and English speaking cs which also was a novelty in the late 90's.

Some players set themselves up for life back then with little startup money. Risk was high and watchdogs and forums had much less of a presence but it was pretty much free money if you could get the book to pay you. It came from all angles...bonuses, promos, marshmellow lines, a much slower moving market and teaser and parlay odds that don't exist in the fly-by-nights now.

Damn Slash... I bet you loved those days indeed. That sounds like it was pure gold way back when.

Yeah, if those bonuses were available today, my brothers, my sister, my father and my mother might start betting.

I recall back in the late 90's using a book called Playersbet for a couple of years. Always seemed to pay if I remember correctly...I notice a Playersbet in the SBR rating guide (F-), but it appears to be a dead link. Always wondered what became of that outfit, and if the one in the ratings guide is what's left of them.....

    Very true!
Stealing money has become a lot easier these days!
Just put up a bad line and give the customers the fault, if they bad on it when it wins, so it can be cancelled or even better the price can be changed as such to make it a losing bet (Even A books can afford this behaviour! True story! Even A books can do this!). And oh ja, of course, before I forget to mention, if the bet loses, then all was sweet and the customers simply had bad luck.
