Default SIA update (previous complaint worse than reported)

We previously reported that SIA had confiscated $5500 from a player. SIA stated that the player was using an alias account after they closed his first account. The player admitted that his brother played with SIA, but denied he had more than one account. No conclusive proof was offered by SIA to justify the confiscation.

During the investigation, the player claimed $8000 was taken. SIA denied this, claiming it already made another $2500 payment (which is how it arrived at its $5500 figure). The player never received the last $2500, and now SIA refuses to issue the payment. This is particularly troubling, because SIA strenuously argued that they had already paid the player. Based on SIA's statement that the player was paid or payment was pending, we did not report the $8000 figure.

We brought this problem to SIA's attention. They 1. refuse to discuss it with us, and 2. refused to pay the player the $2500 they said was paid. Instead, they told the player that "You have bene fairly compensated beyond the amount of your deposits, and this amount has been more generous".

I would note that a sportsbook's obligation to pay is not based on generosity. If a player wins, you pay him.

Everyone that has been stiffed by them needs to get together and hire one lawyer from their province to sue them. They will never win in court because their rules have not been violated by anyone. If my dispute is not resolved this is what I am going to do.

That's a good idea. SBR might even consider footing the bill... I'll talk to management about it.

John did extend that type of offer to people about BOS. I believe he withdraw that offer right before the big bust though.

Was this the case where a number of identical bets were made from the same PC right after each other? Or was this another SIA case? Or another book altogether?

    This was a different case.

The player's brother was thrown out of SIA about a month and a half before he opened his account. Obviously, he never exceeded SIA's limits. SIA claims that one person was betting the first account which was closed, and the second account which was confiscated.

SIA never offered proof that these two accounts were actually run by one person, other than that the two brothers lived at the same address.

SIA is bad news. They will not hesitate to steal your money if you give them any kind of an excuse, no matter how lame.
