Default Which teams to the Superbowl

The big game is a month away. Poll only has room for ten teams. So if you think Giants or Jets, please mention so in a post.

i always hate polls like this. what does it mean to vote for one team over the other? anyone who doesn't pick the two odds on favorites should put his money where his mouth is, and if you are gonna put down the odds on favs (which is objective), then why bother to fill out a poll?

it's like when people are polled on who is gonna win the election. most people, i assume, vote for their personal choice regardless of which candidate is more likely to win, which is what the poll asks.

    Very helpful, Korchnoi.

I 'bother' to post a poll because I value the opinions of the forum, and want to compare the consensus here to the public consensus in future markets.

You're backwards. Take a look at the futures market, that most closely represents the view of this forum.

What I do think would be useful would be if you posted a tight futures mkt for all the teams and asked people, if they had to pick a bet, which would it be and why. Anyone who would rather bet Chicago than San Diego if offered the same odds is probalby out of touch with reality. But if you had to either bet San Diego +244 or Chicago +525, there is room for reasonable people to disagree.

Whatever two teams have the least votes will make it. That's what basicly happened last year.

I would have to agree that one of us is backwards. But I would put it less blunt.

If the Bears reach the superbowl I would be extremely surprised.

Indy because they have no pressure for once. San Diego is the best team, Baltimore is the playoff team, but this is a total gut feel.
Nawleans because the NFL is rigged and the NFC sucks anyway.

    Pats and Saints.

The older and less athletic I get, the more I like to tell myself that coaching matters.

Pats?! You must be older and less athletic than I thought.

That means the Pats have to beat the Chargers and, most likely, Baltimore on the road.

    They're my Phoenix Suns, DH.

Plus I did sit on my Daddy's lap and watch the Parilli-Cappeletti connection at BC's Alumni field.

I voted Ravens and Eagles. I think the Ravens have the secondary to matchup against the Chargers receiving corps. That is assuming that the Ravens can stop LT. Could see some turnovers out of Rivers against the Ravens this time.

I think the Eagles because they are just playing really well right now. No one in the NFC scares me so I think any NFC team can make it to the Super Bowl rather easily. The Eagles toughest matchup may be this weekend against the Giants. It is hard to play against any team 3 times in one year. I would've voted for the Bears but global warming is a bitch. I don't think weather is going to be a factor for them.

    I have Chargers and Saints.

Chargers because they're the best team by far. Saints because Bears have Grossman, who has produced QB ratings of 1.3 and 0 - ZERO!- this year. Only reason Bears have homefield is that NFC sucks. Miami and Packers have already shown that Chicago homefield means little. By contrast, Chargers haven't lost at home, and have revenge for a totally unnecessary loss, also the last sighting of Martyball, at the Ravens. (not that revenge means a lot in the playoffs, but I'm counting on Merriman to buy into it bigtime. He missed the tackle that gave Ravens the win. And Merriman is contagious for this defense).

Pats are getting tons of credit for past playoff performances. These are not the same Pats. Not close.

    Pats D looks soft.

Chargers will feast on this, if Pats win today.
