Check out the threads about Bet365's live betting policies--they reserve the right to change the line after you've bet if they deem the original line was in error. I suspect that had something to do with the downgrade.

Bet365 (SBR rating A) gives player losing wager he did not place. The bettor wagered on an erroneous line where the spread was reversed, making the -4.5 favorite a +4.5 point underdog. Instead of canceling the wager and addressing the client who attempted to gain an unfair advantage, Bet365 gave the player a bet with the "corrected" line, making the would-be winning bet a loser. SBR expects upper management to address the policy flaw, void the obviously bad-line bet and refund the 1800 Euros in losses.

Here is what i dont get.

If I understand this correctly, the player was trying to cheat the book. The player deserves no protection or assistance.
Cheaters should be punished whether it be the book or the player.

So, why are they being assisted in cheating the book?

Justin-While in reality I agree with you, and frankly do not think bet365 is really even a c book, let alone an A, the point is the player doesnt deserve assistance in cheating the book.

I think we need to be hard on scam books and books who cheat players, but we need to be equally hard on the players who cheat the books, and there are many. Unfortunately there is no forum to go and bitch in for the books when they are being cheated, or worse being extorted in the forums as we see every day here and in other forums, much like the 5 dimes case as an example.

In this world there are not only sleazy books, there are sleazy PLAYERS too!

If the books, the top tier books started to do this, I think it would be a good thing.

But in the very least SBR should not be aiding and abetting in the theft from the book

From what i see here your blaming me for the mistake of the bet365. I didn't take a shot at the bookie. For example i also bet on many matches that bet365 offer at live betting with over 4points difference from other bookies. Today on cantu-reggio emilia bet365 offered cantu+4.5 while interwetten offered it 1.80 to win. I wanted to bet on cantu +4.5 but after what they did to me they can do what ever they wish with their "rule" cantu won 76-74. 2 weeks ago snaidero-siena..... snaidero won by 7 points and at bet365 siena had +7.5 and at sportingbet had -4.5 so i bet on siena and i lost. I didn't say anything because i lost because i thought that is the REAL odds they wanted to offer. They night they STOLE my money during the whole match barcelona was favourite at bet365 while at sportingbet and interwetten benetton was the favourite.These are only a few examples that happened recently.Also almost most of the times there is huge price difference from bookie to bookie on which team is going to win the next quarter, sometime one team offers 1.60 at one bookie and at another bookie the other team offers 1.60..... and again i bet where the best odds are..... I bet on the teams i want to bet at the bookmaker i see the best offer and is illegal for them to change the lines on a winning bet to make it lose. I don't if you only play in 1 bookie and don't check the odds at different bookie but i play where the best lines-odds are

I dont think we are. Yes the player took a shot on a bad number that the book posted. However, the book has other options available to deal with this. One option they do not have is to simply change the line 9 points against the player on a confirmed bet without the player knowing.

I wonder what would happen if you just didn't know the line was wrong. Like say I'm starting to play a sport that I don't know much about and I'm playing on a pointspread theory like
'take all double digit home dogs following an outright loss as a favourite' (just an abstract example off the top of my head) . . . Now I don't know the teams from Adam, I'm just playing a pointspread system - so when the book shows the wrong spread I wouldn't know it . . .

This is one of the worst bookmakers rules I have ever seen. According to this rule, if your bet is a Non-Runner or void selection in a multiple bet/parlay, they can do everything they want with your bet.
