Exclamation BTP Prize Notice

Attention Beat the Prick contestants, if your name appears on the following list, you are technically still alive for one of the 3 trips being offered as top prizes this year. We need to know immediately if you will be able to attend the events (Super Bowl, BCS Championship, Pro Bowl) for which you are still eligible. Specifically, we need to know NOW whether or not you will be able to accept the BCS Championship trip (Saturday, January 6 - Tuesday, January 9) as we will have a very small window in which to reserve air transportation for the winner and his guest.

Please PM or email your availability for these prizes as well as your complete and accurate contact information (Full name, mailing address, phone numbers, etc.) to SBR’s Willie Bee immediately so that we can fast track the prizes at next weekend’s conclusion of the contest ... willie@sportsbookreview.com

Also remember that the Contest Rules stipulate that contestants must play in 13 of the 15 weeks beginning in Week 3 and running through Week 17 in order to be eligible for these season-ending prizes. Congratulations and good luck in the final week.

I’m glad you posted this, as I was going to ask a question about just this matter.

Are the trip prizes “transferable”? The chances of my being able to use them go up considerably if they are.

That really is a tiny window on the BCS trip especially. I didn’t want to criticize, because the prizes are great and we sound ungrateful if we imply otherwise, but I think for future years this needs to be re-thought. With all three, but especially the BCS one, it’s going to be very tough for people who have work/family/etc. obligations to make the necessary arrangements. You—and whoever you are going with—kind of have to get “hypothetical” time off work just in case you win, since you won’t know for sure until a few days before you need to be on the plane. That’s not going to be realistic for a lot of people.

So it would definitely help if they are transferable, but better yet (for future years) would be to offer prizes without such a small window.

Other questions would be:

1. If you can't go on the trip, do you just not get any prize? Do you get to hold onto it for a future year, or get some cash equivalent or something?

2. Does it have to be the same flight from the same city? What if I live in San Francisco and I want to go with a buddy who lives in New York; do we have to first rendezvous in the same city and both leave from there, or do we each get a round trip ticket to the event from where we are?

Sure ... we'll just need complete contact information on the travelers ASAP. I would think we'd want to insist on no unaccompanied minors, but other than that, I don't see why not.

You will receive the cash portion of the prize unless a cash prize winner in spots 4 through 20 is willing to trade up (see all prizes). Unfortunately, we cannot award cash equivalents nor can we hold the trip prizes until a later date. In order to secure these prizes, the event tickets and hotel accomodations were purchased at the beginning of the contest.

Again, I see no reason why this wouldn't be allowed within the continental US.

Thanks for the feedback. We agree that the timeframe is too tight to offer the BCS Championship again and, as such, we are currently lining up non-trip prizes for next year ... trinkets like Lincoln Navigators, Plasma TVs, etc. come to mind

Thanks for the helpful response. (Those sound like some nice trinkets by the way.)

I’ll be happy with whatever I get. Ridiculously generous contest, especially factoring in those weekly prizes.

Even if I'm technically still alive , very very difficult to win.

In any case, I'll not be able (I'm from Europe).

Tx again for the great contest

Glad you took my advice about the Plasma TVs.. Feel like I'm going to win one of those next season..

Would love that Navigator though. Although the Gas Prices suck..

In case of a series of miracles, yes, I would be available to go watch the national championship.
