This match SHOULD be fascinating to watch because you are going to learn about the maturation process of Del Potro. Did he learn anything at the French Open after blowing the 2-1 lead vs. Federer? I would like to say yes and think that this guy can give Federer a serious run for his money, but I question that after his comments following his drubbing of Nadal. He called getting to the final, the happiest moment of his life. So, is he just happy to be in a Slam Final? Or is he coming like he did against Nadal with something to prove and something to play for? To see where DelPo went from getting straight setted out against Fed at the Australian to actually having him down a set at the French, the next logical step is for him to have an opportunity to win ... perhaps. I do think DelPo on this surface is good enough to get a set, even against the brilliance of Federer. He has the rare combo of athleticism and power that no one else on the tour can match. Think he has to be patient against Federer and construct points, but also do as he did against Nadal in going for big shots when they present themselves. Basically, play fearless and loose. I will honestly be shocked if he fails to get a set on this surface, unless he shows up playing like an absolute novice and is totally overwhelmed by the situation ... but why should he be? If he can play as well as he did against Fed at the French, why not at the Open on a better surface for himself regardless of it being the final.
I have DelPo for half a unit at +1100 to win the Open, so it's kind of pointless for me to load up on him even at +265 or more (BetPhoenix current line), but also pointless to waste my potential profit margin by paying that much for Federer. Looking at the over at 38.5, wishing it was 38 like the Djokovic match yesterday.

Since I have DelPo with the future to win this and I don't see the point in taking Federer at -320 ish to ruin any potential gains, I may join you on the DelPo 1st set at +190. Either that or Fed -5 (-115) as my hedge play. Really think that is the only way he makes this a match, he has to set the tone and let Federer know he's here to win. Theoretically, he could win the 2nd and do the same - but I think as we saw with the Djokovic match, the pressure mounts when you lose a tight 1st set. Djokovic kept a high level, but he was never able to win the big points because I don't think he believed he was going to take a set after the way the 1st set shook out.
