So I was playing Pokemon Silver for Gameboy when suddenly it rings on my door. I open up and there stands my girlfriend and I could tell that she has been crying a lot and her eyes were all red. I told her to come in and we sat on my bed and she started telling me what has happened. Apparently, her father has been very abusive to her mother and hit her or something like that but I didn't really pay attention to what she was saying because at that moment I met a really rare pokemon in my game. There is a 1/251 chance of capturing this pokemon! I was so excited I knew I couldn't screw up on this. And as I was about to catch the pokemon, my girlfriend suddenly screams "aslan gush nemikoni!!" and she took my Gameboy and threw it across the room. I screamed and ran over to my Gameboy but unfortunately the screen had been broken and the On light wasn't lighting either.
I got so extremely mad and told her that she was a lot of bad things. That got her even more upset and she started crying while she ran out of my house.
I think I screwed up big time now. My girlfriend is upset and my Gameboy is broken. What should I do?

It's obvious you've escaped a very destructive relationship. She feels as though she can interrupt your leisure time and burden you with her problems. Domestic abuse is a serious matter but so too is catching a rare exotic Pokemon. We're not talking about Pikachu here. We're talking about something along the lines of Kyogre or Deoxys. This is big game hunting my friend and they'll be plenty of time for talk later. Look, her eyes will eventually dry and her mother's bruises will fade. But will you get another chance at glory? More importantly, do you really want to take that chance? If your girlfriend cannot understand that you're a different breed, an adventurer, a free spirit, then by God she doesn't deserve to have you in her life. It's one thing if she wants to break your heart, it's entirely another if she breaks your Gameboy. Soldier on without her, Pokemon awaits!

My son is 12 and outgrew Pokemon about two years ago. He's into Halo now.

Its about Odds: 1/251 chances of catching this pokemon, versus how many times does she come over crying a year? You would have to look at how frequent you play the game. If you play the game everyday, until you have at least once a day been able to try and catch this ONE mystical pokemon, then you would only catch this ONE once every 8.25 months. How long were you guys dating, and how often does she look for comfort from you and starts crying?
I think you made a wise decision on continuing your path towards capturing that ONE pokemon.
Plus, in the end, there are plenty of gameboys and women out there. You could always just fix the gameboy, and pay for a new girlfriend; or vice-versa.
