Default Hey guys, my Dad is opening a thousand dollar betting acct for me for Christmas

My Dad is opening an acount for me for Christmas and putting a thousand in it for a Christmas gift.

He was working with another guy as a local bookie here and I would just call him up and place my bets, but this is his last year and after that he isn't doing it anymore. I guess they are referring all customers to some new guy for 10% of player losses for one year.

I asked him if I will stil be able to call in and place bets with the new guy or if he would place them for me, but he said no because he doesn't want anyone knowing I gamble.

So instead, he is funding an online sportsbook for a thousand dollars worth and I'm just going to play off of that.

What book do you guys think I should choose?

I like to place straight wagers and sometimes teasers. Sports I bet on are pro football, college football, pro basketball, college basketball, pro baseball, hockey, soccer and boxing.

My smallest bet has been $10 dollars and my biggest bet was $2,000 thousand.

The only thing I have to do is wear a beard for him. That means he will call me on my cell phone and tell me what team to bet on, at what spread, at what vig and at what book.

Of course he will be giving me a list of his books with usernames and passwords, but this will be seperate from my account.

He said he will do the transaction on Monday so I should be able to start betting by next Friday, the 29th, just in time for the good bowl games. So I have to start preperations now and make a small list of books to pick and then narrow it down to one. Where would you guys pick if you had one choice?

I'm pretty excited ---> and look forward to making a bunch of --->

    How old are you?

I would suggest Pinnacle as the book you get your account funded in. You can never go wrong with them.

Good luck with your account, which ever book you fund. Go check out the Handicapping forums here, and jump into the discussions. There is some good information being discuss.

    Also, Welcome to SBR Forums.

Beautiful post, HB. I had to go get a tissue to take the laughter tears out of my eyes. That's a classic post.

Nothing against you, zippo. Us old foggies all remember when we were ready to take on the world at your age. I hope you 10X your bankroll, sir.

I forgot to add Tennis as another sport I bet on.

Yes, I made a bet for $2,000 thousand, but only twice.

The first time was on Pittsburgh +8 in the NFL when Jamal Lewis was going to break the record in Baltimore and it was very late in the year, I couldn't believe Pittsburgh was getting that many points and they ended up winning or losing by 3. I can't remember as it was years ago, but it did cash and I was nervous as hell watching that game at a friends house and smoked like a half a pack of cigarettes.

The other game I bet $2,000 on was the Jets playoff game vs San Diego when Kaeding missed that game winning field goal.

I knew the bookmakers had both of those games mixed up and took full advantage of it.

Normally I don't bet that big unless I pretty much know for sure and those games I knew the books were wrong on the spreads.

Thanks onlooker. I have Pinnaclesports on my list. They seem to be a popular choice from the research I have been doing so far. Are they a safe place? They seem to have good lines and good juice. I just want to do one book for now because I don't want to get ripped off. I hate not knowing where my money is or having to worry about if I will get paid or not. Betting with my Dad is easier because if I lost I would just give him the money and when I won he would just pay me.

I posted my basketball plays tonight in the Basketball forum and look forward to getting in the discussions. I'm 22, but I know my sports.

Yes, Pinnacle is a safe place. No need to worry about that with them.

Not all young kids end up cleaning themselves out. I started betting sports when I was 13 with kids in my school. I have ended up okay.

    Pinnacle.

Learn some bankroll management. Bet range of 10 to 2k is just stupid. With a 1k bankroll, you shouldn't be betting more than $10/play.

This is a sad story waiting to happen , I do not like it. He should of bought you excercise equipment, maybe books, lawn equipment or something that is constructive. Pal in a few years you will be running to banks like me on Mondays looking for loans and waiting in the same lines I wait in. It is real bad and degrading, like 15 of us once a month usually are in the "gambling line" when others are getting loans for good things like houses and cars and people starting families and us dicks are waiting in line to get a loan to pay our man.

Son if you do bet I advise you to bet no more than $20 per game abd laught it off when you lose. I am furious with your dad right now and want him to call me after the holidays and I want to explain to him the cons about gambling.

Like Sammy said the first rock is free.

    Son Good Luck

Well guys, it looks like this is not happening now. I was talking to my Dad about it this morning and now he says its not a good idea. When I asked why, he said that all I will be doing is surfing the internet from sun up to sun down and that it won't be productive for me and it will become an obsession.

Now I'm all pissed off because he always pulls this kind of shit every single time. He always says one thing and then does another, being the exact opposite. Classic and I should have sawr this coming a mile away.

I'm just going to open a Neteller account on Monday myself and have money transferred from my bank account to my Neteller account and then to Pinnaclesports. I'll just have to pretend like I'm not betting, but I will have my Pinnaclesports account that he won't know about.

What an idiot and then he wonders why nobody takes him seriously. I don't like to much at all today. I'm 3-4 for -140 so far with my plays from last night. I do kind of like Oakland +7 because that is too many points in my opinion. Kansas City has lost four games in a row and shouldn't be this big of a favorite, especially on the road. When a home team in a divisional rivalry game is getting 7 or better, in what looks to be a low scoring, grind it out type of game, I would say take the points or pass, but I'm gonna pass for now.

See ya guys a little later maybe. Good luck, hope you're winning your bets today.

No man, I don't think anyone talked to him about it because nobody else knows. This is just typical shit that he pulls all the time.

For example, the other day when he got home he asked me if I ate yet and if I was hungry. I didn't eat anything all day and told him that I was starving so he asked me if I wanted to get a pizza and I said yeah. So I told him I was going to hop in the shower real quick and that I would go pick it up after I got out. When I got out of the shower he was sitting at the table eating a tuna sandwich and reading the paper. I'm like WTF. He's like, yeah, I didn't feel like going to get it and just decided to have a sandwich, theres some pizza bagels in the freezer if you want to warm them up. IDIOT! Didn't I just say I would go pick it up?

Then last week my sister was over and he was like you guys want to go to Mario's (an italian restuarant by our house)? So we said sure. He told us he had to go run an errand and that he would be back in an hour and we would go. He gets home like 3 hours later all hammered and we did't say anything cause we didn't want to look like we were imposing. He lays down on the couch and passes out.

Dude, I could list you all kinds of shit like this that he does all the time, so when he says something I don't even pay attention anymore.

I wish I had your dad as a father. It's nice to have something like sports and gambling for you and your dad to bond over. My old man and me have nothing in common.

P.S. I bet tennis as well.
