Thumbs down US Open rain delays

Not sure how this will effect when finals are played, but there are 3 matches that need to be completed today.

Wish they had a retractable roof.

To free up some time might as well hand over the woman's singles trophy to Serena no one is stopping her.

there is no way Kim takes her down, she to strong and much more athletic. Serena has been dominating and the only loss that she to Clisjster was when she had a long match the night before and it was really early in her career. I just think it is easy money.

I doubt all the matches are played. Even if it stops raining long enough to completely dry the court, the slightest sprinkle will cause play to be suspended again as it's quite dangerous for the players to run on wet hard court. Could be a long weekend full of reruns.

They are taking an interesting approach to this, apparently Clijsters/Williams will be in Ashe, Nadal/Gonzalez in Armstrong, and Wickmayer/Wozniacki in the grandstand - all at the same time.

The US Open site says "no earlier than 4:30pm" but they've been pushing the restart time forward all day, so who knows.

Well this sucks.. women's matches officially cancelled today according to CBS but they are trying hard to finish Nadal/Gonzalez.

I don't know why they waited so long, the forecast all day was for nothing but rain and more rain. They weren't going to do anything but start & stop which is worse than figuring out when to play next. They'll be lucky to get some of these in on Saturday the way it looks. 40-50% chance of rain through tomorrow evening. They'll have to finish Nadal-Gonzo on Sunday, likely do the women's semis on Sunday and then Monday would be the ladies final and men's semis with tuesday perhaps as the men's final? Don't know any other way they can do it if they are going to try and be as fair as possible to the players.

So assuming they finish Nadal's quarter finals match tomorrow afternoon, are they going to make him play semis Sunday? If not until Monday, then looks like finals will be delayed all the way till Wednesday assuming there are clear skies for the next few days.

Delayed till 8PM ET. I was just watching a live shot of the court, and the brainiacs in charge of the court didn't even put any tarp on it. Why let the court get more soaked and spend more time drying when rain finally settles down?
