Sam he's done that for the past how many years now.

I seriously doubt this will be his last year. This guy loves the game way too much quit, and I feel the Packers will end up having to force him out at some point.

My guess is he plays at least one more season.

Very young team. More likely to get better than worse. (Or at least that’ll be the perception, and it’s the perception that matters to his decision.)

So far they’ve shown zero faith in Aaron Rodgers, so it’s not like they’re trying to push Favre aside already so they can turn the team over to Rodgers. Presumably Favre would be welcomed back by the Packers, and it would be as the unquestioned starter.

I’d say 75%-80% he plays at least one more year, and if he does it’ll almost certainly be with the Packers. I don’t see him trying to catch on with a team that’s supposedly closer to a championship run. As I say, if he wants to play, I think he’ll convince himself that the Packers are improving and that they give him his best shot to go out a winner.

I'm sure somebody will offer him a studio job. If so, do you guys think he will take it? I think he will take a year off and then take a studio job.

Bret cannot complet a pass over 15 yards anymore, yes he won 7 games so far but you cannot improve your franchise with him. He is money hungry and will play again next year.

Brett is better than any other option in GB right now. Remember how Brett got knocked out of a game earlier this year and Rodgers didn't do anything in relief except break his foot and out for the season. Next year's training camp will be life or death for Rodgers. If Rodgers can show ANYTHING, I think Favre will go the route of Brunell, Bledsoe, Warner, etc if the team starts out poorly again. Rodgers just hasn't shown much. I've seen all the games, preseason and regular season. Yeah, Brett isn't the Favre of old, but he's still the best option in Green Bay right now.

Stay tuned for next year's training camp. Favre will be back. The real question then will be whether Rodgers can hold his own. So far the answer is NO.

I think he will be back next season, but I actually heard that the head coach wants to move on and start anew with Aaron Rodgers.

Since Favre has so much clout in Green Bay they don't want to push him out and they won't and if he wants to come back then they will accept that.

If he truely cares about Green Bay, he would retire or move on to another team. He hurts that team more then anything. You cant live off past performances, that dont win you games. I think they should move on.

So Id love to say, "Good Bye Brett".

McCarthy has been nothing but supportive of Favre's return. McCarthy and Favre have a long history, which is probably why McCarthy was hired. IMO, McCarthy is hoping for another two years from Favre to establish his regime and allow him to groom his own future QB. Favre isn't pulling any strings except outperforming his competition at QB. Think about it, the Packers picked a QB in the first round, and he can't even hold a candle to Favre at this point. I'm fully aware of Favre's limitations, but Rodgers is NOT the answer at this point. Maybe after he learns to take his own diapers off.

Onlooker, I know why you want Favre gone. He does nothing but destroy the Lions every time they meet. Yet another season sweep of the motor city kitties. Has to be killing you as a Lions fan! Isn't Favre undefeated at home against the kitties over his career? Pretty damning. He isn't much worse against Chicago.

Yeah, McCarthy was hired pretty much because he has Green Bay ties and a history with Favre as well. He is doing a pretty good job given the talent he has to work with. I know I didn't think he was a good choice, but has impressed thus far, all things considered. If they could have grabbed a win at home vs the Saints, Rams or Jets, we could be talking playoffs right now.

Even if the Packers got into the playoffs, they wouldn't get far. Did you see the Viking's game? They were trying to give the game away. Too many rookies. I think during one snap, 6 rookies were in there on offense. Albeit, those rookies will only improve, and may be a force next season.

But, you know, the Packers making playoffs this year is not an impossibility. I know the Giants need to lose twice, but against the Saints & Redskins, I don't know if this beat up Giants team can get a win. I won't hold my breath, but I wouldn't be suprised either if the Pack got in. Even if EVERBODY rests next week for Chicago, I don't know if the pack can beat the Bears in Chicago. Like I said, it might be fun to see the Pack in the playoffs, but they are not a playoff team.

Favre still has it in him for at least one more season. He uses bowflex! But seriously, he still has a good arm on him..he just doesn't use it that much. He has been able to improvise pretty well without it. As far as Rodgers goes, he's not terrible. When Brett was playing like doo-doo in Dallas, ROdgers came in & woke the GB offense back up & scored a TD. Too little too late though. Brett just needs to stay healthy & the offensive line needs to improve a lot & GB will be fine.
