Default Did anyone else put a future on UTexas for Champion?

I got Texas at +650. I feel better about it already. Maybe a BYU-UT championship game is in my future.

I think it holds a lot of value.

    I took +800 a long time ago.

I felt it should have been more like +500.

the problem is that if Texas loses a game they can kiss the BCS title game goodbye, their SOS will be bad.

USC might jump them at some point, but I don't know that USC will run the table this year, next year they will be stellar.

I never thought that OU would be Texas' toughest game, I thought Oklahoma State would be. I doubt Oklahoma State can keep it together all year, already a bit of a meltdown before the first game with Moseley. I'm a man Gundy isn't the greatest coach in the world either. I think this game with Houston shows a lot regarding Oklahoma State (and their defense). I think Texas A&M will give Texas all they want at the end of the year as well.

Texas has a lot of depth, the defense should be very good going forward. They had a big busted assignment that cost them a TD on Saturday and didn't play great. The TE position is probably the most worrisome team aspect. That and Greg Davis' horrible offensive play-calling. I don't think Florida runs the table but may get in with a loss. too tired to elaborate further.

my stuff from OGD, posted in mid July...

NCAA football 2010 I've got a few season wins I'm looking at. I don't do a whole lot of those since you have to wait so damn long for the $$.

Texas Longhorns to win 2010 BCS title +800 for 1.1%

The ultimate homer pick. Except that I have this more like +500. The schedule is very easy. It's possible this team sets some records on the offensive side of the ball. It's still a little early, but I think this team is better than last year's team and if the defense gets their stuff together is possibly better than the 2005 MNC team. Malcolm Williams may become a household name. Some big name holes to fill on defense, but Texas simply reloads. Some questions at the RB position, but it's not a lack of players, more that there isn't a marquee player who stepped up last year. Colt rushed for close to 600 yards last year and I don't think the coaching staff wants him to do that again. The main drawback is that I don't see Texas getting to the title game with a loss this year. The SOS will make it very difficult. Possible losses with schedule:

    Time / Result

why? 09/05/09 vs. Louisiana-Monroe Austin, Texas TBA
why? 09/12/09 at Wyoming Laramie, Wy. 2:30 pm CT
bad spot for raiders 09/19/09 vs. Texas Tech Austin, Texas 7:00 pm CT
why? 09/26/09 vs. UTEP Austin, Texas 2:30 pm CT
10/10/09 vs. Colorado Austin, Texas TBA
-3.5 10/17/09 vs. Oklahoma Dallas, Texas 11:00 am CT
possible trouble 10/24/09 at Missouri Columbia, Mo. TBA
worried 10/31/09 at Oklahoma State Stillwater, Okla. TBA
why? 11/07/09 vs. Central Florida Austin, Texas TBA
trouble 11/14/09 at Baylor Waco, Texas TBA
trouble 11/21/09 vs. Kansas Austin, Texas TBA
worried 11/26/09 at Texas A&M College Station, Texas 7:00 pm CT

obviously OU is no walk in the park. I look for Bradford to struggle a bit throughout the entire season similar to Colt during his sophomore season after a solid freshman campaign. Texas will probably be favored vs OU this year and should be. I would line the game -3/3' in July. if you have a chance to go to this game...it will be worth just about any sacrifice you would need to make if you love college football. This game will probably be one of the most hyped games in football history and the pageantry throughout the entire weekend in Dallas makes this rivalry unique.

Texas Tech has lost too much and only has two games to figure things out. Texas pays them back with a 30+ point win.

Colorado may offer some problems. Texas has 2 weeks to prepare and a lot of it will be spent on OU.

Missouri has lost too much. 7.5 wins under -210 sums it up.

Oklahoma State may give Texas all they can handle. 3rd straight road game for the 'Horns. Texas has this habit of spotting the Cowboys a lot of points then storming back. In '07 it took a 28 point 4th quarter to win on a FG as time expired.

Baylor should be an above average team when the face Texas. They don't have much of an HFA, but it may be different this year. A Bears win wouldn't make their season, it would make their century.

Kansas should be a good team this year and I think they win the North, but I haven't looked as hard at them as I will in the next few days.

Texas A&M can't be worse can they? I haven't looked too hard at them yet. Hopefully the same refs aren't officiating this game as the '99 debacle. These two games may have similarities.

Looking better every week. USC will not make it pass any of the top undefeateds.

We took Texas at the same price. We prdicted that Texas would win it all. Now it may be time for us to take another look. 'Bama looks like the best team in the country. We can get them at +450 in Vegas now. We may go for it.

Bama has a bigger pothole than Texas. Has to play UF, just as last year. No need to hedge yet.

I think any national championship game that doesn't include the SEC champion would be a farce, and that, I think, augurs ill for your bet. Texas is supremely talented, and will certainly have a legitimate shot to beat anyone they play, but I honestly don't think they'll beat either Florida or Bama.

Texas has two tough games left. OU and at Okie State. The game at Mizzouri and at home against Kansas can not be overlooked, but are easily winnable. The question is can Texas beat either Florida, or Alabama, both ofwhich have a much better defense than Texas and a better overall offense? Florida should coast into the SEC Championship game, and Alabama has eliminated one of their two rivals.

You could not get better odds at the beginning of the season wiseass. +500 were the going odds before the season started. Remember this was for the AP number 2 team in the country.

Looks like the Longhorns will at least make it to the Rose Bowl now. I will hedge later.

It is simple. One loss and they are OUT. If USC runs the table, they go if Texas loses one game. We decided to grab Alabama at +450. They or Florida will destroy Texas. Texas looked like caca against OU, a 3 loss team. There are several teams that would kill them, including both Alabama and Florida.

Bama has to play someone who they will be a dog against, Texas doesn't.
