Default You are true square if you play the Steelers today.

Unless the line takes a dive which it wont the play can only be Baltimore at +10.5 +$.

I got guys calling me this morning loving the Steelers with the number well above 10. Ill take as much steeler money as I can today. If I can find a 13 by game time I will play Balt HUGE.

Anyone else backing the birds today?

Brick is probably right. It looks like Pitt backers have missed the boat. Although, we could see 10s again today.

I got in early in the week at -9. I see the point Brick is making, and I don't necessarily disagree with him as a rule. However, this is Baltimore....with Anthony Wright at QB. If I'm the Steeler's D coordinator I play the run and let my secondary play man coverage and send lots of blitzes, especially in obvious passing situations (which I expect the Ravens to have plenty of). I just think it will be very hard for the Ravens to score anything more than field goals and the the Steelers can manage to put up 21 or so by the end of the game.

Of course, I could be wrong, like I was THREE times Saturday

    Default A recipe for disaster

The following ingredients are needed for the preparation of the recipe for disaster :

    Ingredient # 1 :

Baltimore is a fundamentally bad football team.

    Ingredient # 2 :

The team is riddled with injuries missing key players in both defense and offense.

    Ingredient # 3 :

The team is playing hot Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh.

    Preparation :

Mix all the ingredients at low temperature and you just got yourself a Molotov cocktail that will blow up in the face of the Ravens tonight.

Ingredient 3 is the good news for Ravens backers - the Steelers are a much better road team than home team for whatever reason. I agree with the thread title, though not in regards to those who played the game early in the week (but I would recommend trying to middle the game, at least somewhat). I'm not going to go nuts betting the Ravens here though, if I do at all. I just feel like the Steelers -11+ is unplayable.

Run the game over a million times in your mind...dont make a bit of difference. The bookmakers are smarter than players. If I had a dime for every time a player said, I Dont care about the half point. I cant see them scoring on..... Id be rich. Wait...I do get a dime for everytime they say that! hehe

I thnk middlin after the line changes is dumb. If you did this you would be middlin all the good odds you had away and be stuck with all the shatty odds you played. youd end up with all your bets on shit odds.

I agree that the steelers are just unplayable at these odds. That was bascially my point. I was trying to be entertaining.

best bet yesterday was s.f,and the dogs did well overall.at first glance i loved ravens and got down +12.5,but would like to cover most of it @10,buying a half,if possible.they say anyone can win in the nfl but i fear ravens competitiveness

I'm hoping to get an effective line of <-6 2H...agree can't play Pitt giving 10 or more but am looking for Steelers to pound the ball 1H and Baltimore to play above itself at the beginning on a national stage setting up 2H Pitt value.

I'm watching the line move as I type this message. Where was all of this money a week ago?! Did the news that Lewis and Reed are out just hit the air?! I thought this was public last week.

laying double digits in the NFL=square play.

All trap games start out like this...it seems so easy, baltimore can't score, pitt at home on Halloween, pitt 10-0 on MNF, etc..can't lose situation....the square finds every conceivable reason to be the overpriced favorite.

In the end, Vegas has the final laugh like tonight!

I think that if Baltimore had a QB that could actually throw the ball this game wouldn't have been close. Wright had like 7 seconds to throw the ball everytime.

laying double digits in the NFL=square play ???

The logic is a bit too simplistic, don't you think ? Washington was also a double digit favorite. I pounded that one and Washington massacred San Francisco.

It is not whether it is a double digit spread or not. It is whether the numbers warrant the play. Tonight, the numbers warranted the play. It did not come through.

I feel like a square for only putting two units on the Ravens.

Betman - I agree with you on the fact that there is no line that is inherently unplayable. I would certainly lay 10+ with the Colts, Chargers, or Broncos at home against the 49ers or Texans, as well as certain other matchups in certain situations. I've taken two dd faves this year - winning with the Redskins -11.5 vs. 49ers and losing with the Colts -13.5 vs. Browns (looking back, how the hell did that lose?) The difference in this game, though, was that it was a divisional rivalry game.

Absofvckinglootly! I rarely bet against the bets I take from the guys at home so when I make a play I usually am increasing the amount on the line and am sweating.

This one felt good and im not even drunk this monday night which is also good!

    Razz

Do yo thnk Ben's injury had something to do with it??? If he makes a couple of those passes we are looking at 2 pos game like the spread predicted.
