Default Tennis Lock: Monfils Will Beat Nadal Tuesday

Nadal is suffering from some type of stomach muscle pull and he is not playing violently like usual and not putting points away as his power is not as strong, he is struggling also on his serve and being broke a lot. Monfils is very athletic and strong and playing great.

Go to the bank with Monfils

Not anything close to a lock, but I do like Monfils a lot and will likely take him if the price is right.

Nadal to win US Open @ +1000 , worth a shot, he won't go out without a fight

That Nadal future is a sucker bet to me. He has to get past Monfils, Tsonga or Gonzalez, Murray or Del Potro and then beat Federer? He should be at least +4000 if not more with that road.

Wait until close to match time and watch where the money goes. You might lose a little down to +140 or a little less, but you'll probably have the inside info on the Nadal injury based on the money. The big thing if you bet Monfils because of the Nadal injury, you need to find a book that takes action after one set. If Nadal loses tomorrow, my guess is it will be due to retirement.

    Sharp post.

The reason Federer is the best is not just because he's the most skilled and experienced, he's also the best conditioned. He doesn't have a lot of bulk, but he never gets tired because 1.) he stays in great shape, 2.) his style of play is not as physically taxing as Nadal, and he understands that you don't need to play every return game like it's your last when you have such a good serve.

This is an ongoing injury he had in the last tournament and crept back up when the trainer came out in the last match. You could see he wasn't able to get the speed back on his serve. He won't win this tourney and unless he lets this issue heal it's going to be like a hamstring pull...linger for awhile.

That's why the #3 seed is barely favored to win his next Match while the others are big favs.

Nadal's done. He overachieved on clay where he was too quick and talented for everyone for a little while, Federer owned grass for longer than Nadal owned clay, and his body hasn't fallen apart since he's better tactically and has a more reliable serve.

What's funny is people were saying the same thing about Federer just a few months back. I'd agree right now Nadal looks like toast. He's knees are taking a pounding, it seems he's having this reoccurring abdominal issue now and he does put his body through too much. You nailed it earlier when you said Federer plays so easy and smooth. Tennis is similar to baseball where you have to stay at a disciplined pace all year or you will burn out.

Nadal might be able to overcome most opponents with his pure athleticism but when you play against the top 32 players in an event like the US Open, you can't do that.

Nadal might need to take another break and come back well rested. He's not going to heal on the go, but he will keep taking home decent paychecks even if he doesn't win the big ones.

Nadal will fight like a cornered dog, lets see what he's made of, will he battle bravely or quit like Dummydonkey.

Lou, Nadal will be back, even if he has to take a few months out, he's pound for pound the most talented tennis player, in his prime he made Federer cry remember that.

Money is all on Nadal to this point. Gonna be alot of people sucking in on the better price for Monfils. This one is screaming no bet. Too many variables.

Gael wins. I am saying this one goes down as a great match but in the end Nadal is just not back to true form just yet.

Was waiting to see when to jump in against Nadal; was going to do the same for Sharapova, but too late. This might be the right time. Don't understand how people can call Nadal or anyone else better than Federer; in my mind Federer is tops all-time.

Nadal will pull this one out today Monfilis tends to lose focus around the second set .But I think thats as far as he will go in the open.

Federer's all-around game and ridiculous record of reaching Grand Slam semifinals is proof that he's the greatest of all-time.

    Sampras was inferior on clay.

Monfils hasnt played anyone decent so far.

    Acacuso-ranked #47
    Beck-ranked #40
    Chardy-ranked #34

None of these guys seeded at the US open.

A 1/2 hurt Nadal should win this at -200
