Default Blount Suspended For The Year

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon has suspended running back LeGarrette Blount for the remainder of season for punching Boise State defensive end Byron Hout after Thursday's loss.

Blount's suspension includes any bowl games. Coach Chip Kelly says he will remain on scholarship.

As Boise State began celebrating on their famous blue turf, Hout yelled in Blount's face and tapped him on the shoulder pad. Before Broncos head coach Chris Petersen could pull Hout away, Blount landed a right to Hout's jaw, knocking him to his knees.
Blount also had to be restrained by police officers from fans heckling him on the way to the locker room after No. 16 Oregon's 19-8 loss to the No. 14 Broncos. No criminal charges were filed.

Fair punishment...battery/assault has no place on the football field.

As I've stated in a couple of other threads, the Boise State player should have received a one-game suspension for taunting. That would have sent a strong message. Since he's a starter, no suspension. If he'd been a back-up, I wonder if Peterson would have suspended him?

Yeah, I'm sure this idiot will go to class, study hard, and get a degree. That punch costs him millions, wonder if some NFL team will take a chance on him around the 6th or 7th round.

Blount should have just took the heckling like a man and went on.But if that would have happened on the streets it would have been a whole different story. But as they say on the movie (Friday) (You got knocked the **** out)

I'm all for discipline, justice and self-responsibility.

The Boise St. player wasn't injured bad that I heard and I am unsure if Blount had a checkered past with Oregon, but from what I know right now, that is REAL harsh punishment.

Not certain that I would have taken the kids season away.

Blount is still in a position to be an NFL player the way I read so he is very blessed anyhow, even with this incident. I hope he can find the courage to work through this and realize that he can still make a great life for himself.

None of my business really so I'll move on to the next news story.

A year off sounds about right. The dude that did the taunting should have got a 3 week vacation too.

Fair punishment. He'll still get his NFL chance, he lost himself a bunch of money. He'll probably pull a Pacman and piss away multiple chances, but maybe he'll prove that wrong.

Remember guys, he is a senior, so not just this season but his college career is done.
I think the suspension is taking into account his actions after the punch, pushing a team mate, arguing with fans, being restrained by officers all played a part in this.

So sad, feel bad for him but, he made his bed

for fukk's sake guys, quit weighing in w/your ignorant fukking opinions.....blount has a history of disciplinary problems at oregon, that's why he was suspended for the whole yr, they are completely fed up w/him, he is bringing negative press to the program and has had plenty of opportunities to clean up his act

know the facts or fukk's sake please STFU

dumb move on blount's part. now he has to pay the penalty. justified punishment imo based on his overall behavior.

He was projected as a 2nd - 3rd round pick. Now he'll go undrafted.

At least Lawrence Phillips was smart enough to just beat up his gf in private and not on national TV.

Congratulations to the great university of Oregon for dumping this sack of sh.t,
it is high times for sub-humans like that Blount to understand that he is being given a humongous opportunity to elevate himself above that of the pathetic state in witch he was born and as been living in since birth.
By receiving the privilege of 100k-150k education(or scholarship to be used later) in a idyllic and erudite surrounding even if at present time he does not know how to read or write! Now he knows:HE NEEDS OREGON,NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!
Hopefully this will send a loud and clear message to trash like this Blount animal THROUGHOUT the NCAA!
The reason why that baboon got all bend out of shape was because He open is big mouth before the game and gave the Idaho defense all the "bulletin board" material need it.I believe they stuffed is black ass for a total of 8yrds
And in the process made him look like the pathetic loser that he his.

P.S.:What kind of f.cking name is Lagarret for f.ck sakes

Yeah he has a history of disciplinary problems at Oregon. I don't think he gave Oregon any other choice. I mean ESPN was showing a replay of him in full Oregon gear punching another player every couple of minutes. I still think the Boise State guy should have been suspended for a game or so.

Actually he ran for -5 yards in that game. Horrible post though. Poorly thought out and barely understandable.

I agree that the Boise St. player should get a 1 game suspension, as it looks like he started it.

  31. #31

Suspension is too stiff. 4-5 games would have sufficed. If Oregon had won and had a team worth competing for the Pac 10 or Natl championship this would be the penalty. Since Chip Kelly and Belloti know that this is a 6 win season at best, just suspend the guy for the season. Winning supersedes behavior. Win and you are in. Lose poorly and the team is poorly coached and bye bye.

He was unlucky to connect so perfectly. If he swings and its a glancing blow he gets a 1 game suspension. He did continue his thug like ways even after the punch so oh well. A half year would have been more fair.

continue to find it stunning how many people try to defend this thug He does not have a right to play football anywhere and so many here seem to think he should have a penalty diminished fro some reason. A thug is a thug, PERIOD. Subject him to what all of us would and I;m with you. We all know he is being treated with less than kid gloves.
