Default Account Balance: What's your cap?

I realize that these days, more than ever, it depends on the sportbook in question, but how much is too much in terms of an account balance?

For example, let's say we're talking Pinnacle, Cris, Greek or any of the so-called higher end sportbooks. If you're fortunate enough to be winning, and doubly fortunate not to be in any need of funds at the moment, does anybody have a general rule of thumb in terms of setting an account balance limit and then cashing some in?

Just wondering, as personally I often feel that the above mentioned sites are just as safe as any bank, though possibly I'm very naive...

Many factors. Overall bankroll size, MAX bet size at the book on the kind of plays I make there. In the case of CRIS, the withdrawal fees have to be considered. (i.e. - at Pinny, it's no big deal to withdraw your funds into Neteller thinking you can do a quick redeposit later if you want. At CRIS tough, that is much more expensive.)

My seat-of-the-pants max number for those books you mentioned:

    Pinny: ~60K
    CRIS: ~25K
    Greek: ~25K

I wouldn't be freaking out if my balances got higher than that but, at least with CRIS and Greek, any more than that and I would have money just sitting around doing nothing.

I used to not mind letting my Mansion account go up to the 50K range but there's little point any more.

Bad mistake to make - they're not by any stretch of the imagination.

Oh I'd say anything more than 5k you should start taking some out.

Pinny: Mid 5 to Small 6 figures
Any other offshore: High 4 to low 5 figures
Betfair: High 6 figures, perhaps more, but doubt i'll ever find out.

    My comfort levels..

Would you guys feel safer with your money in Neteller or your top sportsbook (in terms of security, obviously)?

That's a bloody good question. I have thought about it and realized that the answer for me is, "I have no idea."

Really it's the same as Stumpage's original question. I answered it based on a bunch of personal betting criteria but the question was more about security and when I get right down to it, how the fack do I know how safe those books are? They seem safe. I get good vibes. Is Pinnacle more than twice as secure as CRIS and Greek?

    Hell, I don't know.

    Same goes for Neteller.

Kind of scary to think how much stock I put in such toothless impressions.

Same here Mud, I'm really stumped on this one which is why I asked the question. Personally, I feel most secure about my funds at WSEX, so I routinely move my money there so my largest balance is there. I currently keep a lot less in Neteller than I did in the past, so I guess my answer is that I'm a little more worried about Neteller than the books.

Interesting replies...I'm glad the thread has taken a turn to Neteller because I was going to include it in the original question. Neteller is another site I've always felt very secure with, but to quote Mud, "Hell, I don't know" either.

I've noticed that the Neteller EFT withdrawals are taking a little longer of late, but that's all I can say negatively on a personal level. I still feel very safe having consideralbe funds there, but considerable for me means $10,000. Anything above that amount and I start feeling a little edgy, though I can't begin to explain why and have no evidence of problems beyond that amount.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback all......

Up to 50k at Pinny is ok for me, i know they are not as safe as a bank but i still feel that way there lol.

Cris/DSI, Greek, Jamaica, Wsex up to 15-20k would be ok, but i only reach such amounts at Cris/DSI sometimes.
I would trust Bodog for that much too, but never need more than ~5k there.

Canbet, Carib, Cascade, Pig up to 10k.
    Smaller books hmm >5-6k sucks.

Maybe about 5 books I would trust with 50,000

    lol.

Roughly, I trust A books with 3x the amount I trust B books with. I have one C book left that I trust with 1/3rd of a B book. I do move money around to maintain those proportions somewhat.

I have complete faith in Neteller, because they make a lot of money from providing their service. Unlike books in a worst case scenario, Neteller has no reason to take the money and run, and they're at no risk (or extremely little) of going broke.

During the period of instability in the summer, I moved all my Neteller funds to Betfair for safe keeping when I went away, so I guess that expresses how I rank the safety, something like Betfair --> Pinny === Neteller --> Others

I was just looking at my Neteller transactions for the past 6 months, and there seems to be a very strong trend in my decisions regarding this matter. Here are my maximums:

Pinnacle (A+++): I'll leave up to 50% of my BR here. I really only move money out of Pinnacle if my Neteller is dry.

Other SBR A-list: Probably about 33% of my BR then I'll start moving it to Neteller.

SBR A-, B+, B: 25%, 20%, 10% respectively. These are pretty rough estimates because of such a small sample size. A lot of other factors might influence things for me.

SBR B-, C+, C: I really try to stay away from anything this low, but sometimes I'll take a shot up to 5% of my BR if the bonus is insane enough.

SBR C-, D+, D, D-: I've only done this once, and it was BOS. 'nuff said. BTW: the amount was about .1% of my total BR. I'm still waiting for my cashout. lmao

10K at each of the big players, and that's about it. Besides, with more than that, I want to move it around and get some bonuses and line shop more, since I don't make very large bets.

    I trust Pinnacle, Ladbrokes, Paddy,...

But really safe I feel only with betfair. A couple of days ago MB too, but from what I read that is an illusion.
