it was a dumb block for any quarterback to throw especially a 40 year old in preseason. I would say it was dirty and penalized correctly.

Favre won't make it past week 5. Then he'll wish he stayed retired. He will come back next season with the Redskins and guide them to a 2-14 season. He will retire shortly thereafter. The following season he will relieve Romo of his duties in Dallas and finally lead that team to a playoff victory. He will retire shortly thereafter.

Favre needs to be fined. It could've ended a career

Haven't seen any media reaction to it, but if it was anyone else giving the dirty block there would be serious hell to pay

I love Favre, but NOBODY should be allowed to get away with shit like that.

It is true, he has made them hundreds of millions. And he's earned the right to bullshit around, retiring and unretiring until he finds the best suitor while also avoiding the harshest days of training camps.

Like i said, I love Favre, but on the field he needs to play by the rules. Blocks like that end careers and ruin young lives. He deserves a fine.

Like Quarterbacks really work on their blocking? I'm sure Favre just wanted to get low to minimize the impact on himself, and wasn't thinking at all about the kind of block he was throwing. Premeditation is probably not a feature of his brain.

He should probably know that crackback blocks are illegal tho lol. How long has he been in the league again?

I'm sure he didn't have bad intentions, but it is still a dirty play and he should be fined accordingly. There was a cheap roughing the quarterback penalty earlier in the game that shouldn't have been called, but the player will almost definitely get fined anyway.

I say first he returns to Green Bay when Rogers gets a knee sprain...Favre will
finish the season there and then he and TO will return to Dallas and send the
Cowboys off to another Super Bowl title.....after retiring from Dallas...he will
sign with the Yankees as a utility infielder.....

The block WAS illegal but I doubt it was intentional. How many times has Favre been asked to block as a wideout in the wildcat formation? My guess is zero.

Then he will join Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France and help Lance win his 8th!

Seriously, guys, what do we really expect from him lining up at WR?

Slacker, good point. and why on earth would the Vikings want Favre blocking in a meaningless pre-season game. It's a good way to put your 40-year old QB injured. Bad play call.

    i agree

terrible play call, favre couldve ended his own career on the play as well

Favre is a moron to be throwing his 40 y/o body around like that in preseason.

Coach probably gave him shit after that play.

Nice to see the old man willing to throw his body around. This is football.

    A) Favre has heart and i think he just reacted, wich still doesnt make it right.
    B) That was his throwing shoulder and we all know his age, not smart.
    C) Why the hell would they even line him up there knowing they are running the ball to that side and make him block, poor coaching decision if you ask me. He will be fined more then i make in a year.... lol

Childress is likely responsible for calling the play, if not for the Vikes OC, which should feel really lucky for not "re-injuring" Favre's repaired shoulder.

    1. It wasn't Favre's throwing shoulder. Favre did that block with his left. Favre throws with his right.

    2. Childress wins the dunce award for the play call. Nothing new here.

    3. Favre has been throwing blocks like that his whole career. He's not changing now.
