Default NCAA football betting forum posting observation

Read lots of posts where guys like favs and state that they look good and easy. Of course they do. Probably more parity in college football than ever and the dogs ain't scared.

    Agree with that General.

There is some value in many dogs opening weekend.

Western Michigan, San Jose State, Oregon, and Virginia Tech are all on my list.

    I really like WMU.

General, the first couple weeks of the season are usually some of the best opportunities to play favorites as the books underestimate some in these non-conference matchups. That being said though, I am finding more dogs to play on in this first week than ever before for some reason. We'll see . . . .

I like dogs of less than 7 points, once above that, its a hoping to hang instead of hopin to win kind of deal.

i guess the exact same can be said for favorites, respectively

Hard to cap games 1st few weeks as alot of what you have to go on is speculation. Read what pags11 has to say on this (dont have a link but i will look )he always plays small early because of this! I think thats good advice jmo. GL all !!!

I tend to disagree. I think the first few weeks are easier to cap. If you have done your homwork(pick up the preseason mags in June) you should be able to get a great feel for a team. If you keep up with who is lost from the charts due to injury, etc. before the opening kick, you should have a good idea of how they will produce. It seems to me, and this is just my opinion, that many teams carry their public appeal over from last season, and this is where you can find value.

I agree with Coop29, especially because the lines are softer earlier as opposed to later in the season. Excellent point regarding public teams, which the mainstream media also has a hand in shaping . I think Notre Dame is a good example. I realize they have a lot of personnel back for this year, but I won't be sold on them until they beat a quality opponent.

I'm surprised no-one mentioned Ohio, Toledo or North Texas as live dogs for week 1.

Pags picks are usually dogs and he does quite well. On rare occasions he has a favorite and when he does it is ususally a winner.
