    Question Michael Crabtree Update....

What's the news on this guy. A few weeks ago he says he will sit out season is he doesn't get a bigger contract...we all know that

but since then, I've heard nothing about this situation. Can someone let me know what's going on with this guy

It's pretty clear from looking at where he was drafted, he's slotted to get 16-17M in guarenteed money. Now, he can stomp his feet and hold his breath but he aint getting the 23M that the first wide out got at seven.

History says that anyone who gets into camp as late as he'll get in almost NEVER makes a significant contribution as a rookie. If I was the Niners, I'd tell him here's the offer and it drops a millioin a day till you sign. When it gets to zero, you can sit your happy @ss out all year and get a job flipping burgers at MickyD's!!

what an idiot...only person to not sign. Does he realize that by not signing, he will be BROKE for a year. Why does a 21 year old or 22 or how ever old he is, need more than $17 million to live.

That fukk could live off of $5 million and be fine.

I fukking hate the greedy players in all sports, especially the young guys like Crabtree who think they are worth another $7 million when they don't even know what money and working is

    DW,
You are 100% correct. Having a cousin for an "advisor", probably not your best career decision!!

He has, according to people who are supposed to know about these things, a good agent. But apparently the agent has not been able to get Crabtree and his cousin understand that he ain't getting 23M.

i am much happier seeing the players who risk their bodies get the cash and not the owners..........everyone always bitches about the players wanting more $ but does not bitch at the owners who are stingy fukks.......they make 100's of millions in revenue but cannot give a guy 17 mil?

think outside the box dude, open your eyes and realize that if the marketplace dictates they make more money, then it's the owner's fault not the players

crabtree should and will get all he can and GOD bless him for it

no one gives a shit what you think

    Meeting with the Agent,

Agent: Michael, you have to realize that you're not going to get $30 million. Sign for what they will give you, and show them what your worth.

Cousin: Nah Fukk that cuz u tight. u tight. U gon get yo paper!

    End of discussion!

I understand what you're saying, but think about REAL WORLD

I'm good at my job, but I can't just go to my boss and DEMAND a raise, only ask and most likely the answer will be NO or wait until your review date to get raise or w-e your company does.

I know that players are used to getting this kind of treatment, getting whatever they want and shit, but someone has to smack these people and say take what you are getting b/c what you are getting is fukking GREAT

    Hoop,

I have no problem with players getting all they can.

But that's not really what's going on here. The NFL works basically on a slot system for rookies.

Crabtree thought he was going to be the #1 WR taken in the draft but no one counted on Al Davis and the Raiders being stupid and drafting DHB at 7. The Raiders fell in love with his 40 speed at the combine. (The fact that he has hands of stone didn't keep them from drafting him.) Crabtree wants #7 slot money, but he was drafted at 10. If Crabtree thinks he's going to get 23M guarenteed that DHB got at 7, he's smoking crack. Like it or not, that's not the way the NFL works. And the only person he's hurting now is himself.

He's going to get into camp very late. He's going to get the same or just about the same money he would have gotten weeks ago. He runs the risk of injury since he's coming off a foot injury and he hasn't gotten the practice or game reps that he needs to get ready to play in the NFL.

I'm all for free enterprise, but Crabtree is just being stupid at this point...

He will make less money next year if he sits out this year and be that much farther away from his 2nd contract. This guy is fighting the wrong fight. Take your money, prove yourself, you're going to be a multi-millionaire just don't screw it up.

You're 100% correct...but for the life of me, I can't imagine that even Crabtree would be stupid enough to sit out the whole year.

I know of no such rule that requires him to be signed before the start of the season...

But if you were the Niners, how long would you leave your present offer on the table before you started reducing it? I mean, no reason to pay top dollar this year for someone who will have gotten into camp too late to contribute...

DHB will be one of the biggests busts since Ryan Leaf.

Crabtree is going to have a rough first year, even if he signs tomorrow.

I agree with hoopster, never bother me when guys demand money. I would do the same.

Especially in the NFL, which is fukked.

Look at salaries, guys making the minimum on special teams running head first into other players fukking up their necks. Owners get giant cheques every fukking year before opening kickoff. Some fukking owners for example in Cincy could care less about winning.

Guys in the NFL have a small window to make max dollars, they should go for it.

Can San Fran trade Crabtree before they sign him?

    I already hate this punk...

So are you implying San Fran is going to offer him more now? Cause if not then he really isn't getting "max dollars" and likely hurting himself. In the NFL you don't get paid based on your position in a pre-draft fantasy draft. He didn't go as high as he thought. Tough for him but it's where the market valued him.

    9. B.J. Raji DT Green Bay Signed 5 years, $28.5 million ($18M guaranteed)
    10. Michael Crabtree WR San Francisco Unsigned
    11. Aaron Maybin DE Buffalo Signed 5 years, $25 million ($15M guaranteed)

Someone needs to tell this dumbfuk that he will get a contract somewhere between the #9 & #11 overall pick. He will not get more than Raji got. 49ers should put their foot down and lower their price everyday this idiot isn't on the team. He is going to be worthless this year if he doesn't sign soon. He's got bust written all over him in my opinion.
