Default The SBR Ratings and a word on how they work.

Rating a sportsbook is no easy task. Rating and maintaining the ratings of 400 is borderline impossible so please do not try this at home.

There will be many threads concerning our ratings and not everyone will agree with all 400 ratings and that’s OK. We have an entire guide on ratings even with such an extensive guide many final judgments are subjective.

We try to get better every day and encourage your feedback and reviews.

You guys do an incredible job...I don't see how you keep up with so many books.

The only knock I have is with the different grades for books that have the same financial backer and software. I have a different opinion on some of the ratings like VIP, but that is just personal opinion. You guys do an awesome job.

Clipper VIP is a top tier book. Yeh I know they sometimes cut limits and throw out guys but if your a recreational player VIP is one of the ones you must play at.

    Good Luck

I'm not a recreational player and I have a hard time believing a book can be a "top tier book" when they don't cater to all players.

I think they are on everyone's A list, don't you?

I think VIP is great at what they do (but not as good as BoDog). But they only allow certain players to play. How can that be deserving of the top rating? Just my opinion.

I tell you what, I will one day soon start a thread on the topic.

The short answer is because they are the best choice for many, many players. 1000’s of players will wake up today and decide to join a sportsbook. Where should they make their first $50 deposit? At Pinnacle? Maybe they should call CRIS and ask their newbie type questions? Olympic? Actually the best choice for this group is VIP who specializes in hand holding has fat bonues is open 24/7 and has free transfer fees and great CS.

We try to match the right book up to the right player and that has been a big part of our success. Players appreciate being able to find and join a book that matches their style and needs.

That is great for that aspect...but when you post bad lines and only allow plays on the side you want, that is not a "top tier book"...that is cheating. Whether you are new/old, square/sharp...that isn't bookmaking.

Granted, they are safe and great for newbies and players that plan to be lifetime losers. But I think almost any book could be good at that if that is all they did (ie BoDog and the new Nine.com).

In six years we have received probably close to 1,000 reviews on VIP and no one has ever accused them of this. So if you have a case, or know of a case, let's get into it.

You said it yourself in a thread the other day...you can bet up to $10k on a game as a square if you are betting into a bad number in VIP's favor. If you try and get $10k on the other side, you are turned down.

How hard is it to cater to losing players?

A "top tier book" in my opinion has something to offer EVERYONE. Olympic's group has BetJamaica that is more square friendly, but if you are too sharp for them, you are moved up to Olympic where you are taken care of. Where do you go in VIP's family of books if you are too sharp? I'll give you a hint...you go to a "top tier book".

Phew! You scared me. Come on clip I think you noticed I joke around and yes, even make fun of VIP.

I think luckily for me I came into this industry not knowing what a "Real Bookmaker" was. I figured out who the players were looking for 1st. Some were pounders and we had Pinny, oly and cris waiting for them and they were happy with our site. Others were scared shitless and wanted to make 7 phone calls to see if their $50 wire made it and we sent them to VIP and they were thrilled.

So I dont really care what a "Real Bookmaker" is. I care about giving players what they want for their particular needs and style.

What player is looking for bad lines to bet into? Just because they are uninformed, that doesn't mean they are looking for a book that will inflate favorites on them. They just don't know any better.

Well then they will join Pinnacle. If they are line conscious they have come to the right site because we got lines coming out of our 30 delayed azz and our #1 rated book has the best lines!

That’s what we do Clip, we review the books and they decide. The great majority of new players don’t give a ratz ass about lines. But…after they play a season or two many will come back and try reduced juice online only…kind of a graduation you might say.

95% of players fit the VIP style and that is why they are a top tier book

Like I said...you guys do an incredible job and I have no idea what all goes into your ratings. I just find it odd that a book that only allows certain players can be listed as a "top tier book" with books that take everyone and give them options they enjoy.

The VIPs/BoDog's are money makers and solid books financially and for entertainment. But IMO (which doesn't mean much), that doesn't make them on the same level as the real bookmakers.

Not to mention, VIP has some of the worst software imaginable. I have seen books get knocked because of their software yet VIP gets away with that IGW junk. I just think VIP gets a lot of leeway with you guys but I can't criticize your ratings. You do a great job.

If I wanted my own ratings system, I would need to build my own site.
