I've been gone a couple days myself, and the first thing that popped in my mind is that announcer for WGN White Sox games that is always saying, "He gone."
So I don't have to spend all day looking through the past two days threads, what was the final straw that got him banned?

You seemed to be one of the few that was obsessed with jj ... Now that's he's gone you'll have little to comment on ... I'm kind of wondering what you bring to the table?????? ... Yes, jj was a pathetic character, but at least offered some kind of amusement and occasional insight.

Razz no final straw..JJ is JJ. There is no rhyme or reason to much of anything he does.
Taco, Hmmm...right...OK, I have added a couple of things to my to-do list:
1) Hire a new lines spokesman OR maybe a Lines spokeswomen!
2) Hire a new general manager (preferably one that does not wear minks)

Got to say, I think we're being a bit harsh on jj.
Anyone who can laugh at themselves is OK with me, and he probably poked more fun at himself than anyone else (everything from the size of his manhood, dating a hooker, losing all his money, "odd" jobs, etc.) for our amusement.
I liked his posts a lot.
And, Quarm, whats that post all about? I think you could talk like that if you had some highground to look down from ... Im not sure you do though?

Quarm for a guy who keeps saying he does'nt care about this forum you spend a hell of alot of time here. You have 151 post in less then a month that like 5 post a day.If you want betting info read and don't talk or do us a favor and leave like jj.

If jj was actually gone (doubtful), then the rest is up to SBR. You need to decide what kind of forum you want - then make it happen.
What jj's influence has done is make SBR basically like every other forum out there. The emphasis is on quantity over quality. It is much more friendly to people whose focus is posting forums than people whose focus is betting and making money.
If SBR wants to continue in this direction, then you just need to encourage people to act like jj. Maybe give away weekly awards to the poster who makes the most posts or starts threads that generate the most replies. That would encourage people to be less selective about what they post and to lean more towards controversial stuff than boring old solid information. Like jj, people who didn't know something about a subject would be encouraged to make something up. It would encourage posters to use multiple identities which would also pump up the numbers.
If, on the other hand, SBR wants a more quality, bettor-oriented forum, then there is a lot of damage to be undone. No doubt it would be a long-term project and patience would be required.
I really don't know which model is better from a business perspective. When I have checked the forum lately, I see it being dominated by people who are already on many other forums. While they are creating site traffic, it's hard to imagine it being much good to advertisers; these posters are already as influenced by these advertisers as they are going to be. However maybe advertisers aren't able to analyze things that much and they just see numbers of threads/posts. I really don't know how that all fits together.
Posting forums aren't my business so I don't know what is best. The market for a top-quality industry forum with less tolerance for rudeness and shenanigans seems to be wide open, however maybe it's too tiny a market to be worth shooting for. I don't know.

Have no clue why he left. He didn't quit posting altogether since he is posting elsewhere.
JJ has a great sense of humor but he tends to push it a little too far at times, only to create more effects. And by doing so, he generates hostile replies.
I don't know what Bill, John and the mods intend to do with this message board but they might be aiming at more educational content and less sensational. Although JJ would contribute with good insights and comments that would initiate some discussion or debate, he may not be one to be restrained from expressing every single thought he has. Ever since that last altercation, he seemed to have quieted down.
As for ghosting, I know for a fact that it's being done, or been done, in many forums in order to create controversy, attract more visitors and sell ads. But again, this place might not be suited for JJ.
At any rate, I will personally miss him. He was entertaining and interesting. And if he left because of his losing streak, I'm sure he'll be back when he hits a few winners.

Good post, Mudcat.
A few more comments.
A forum allows members to express their opinions. It can become boring when we're not opinionated or when we all agree. Of course, maturity is essential as it avoids excessive comments but that's why you have people to moderate the forum. If the only intention was to inform, and nothing else, then you wouldn't need this forum. Just do a search on the home page or contact Bill Dozer through email to get an answer to your question.
A message board must be entertaining and should involve information, debates and humor. I personally believe that it can do without the ghosts and the sensational. But I wouldn't be one to reject a member because of his lack of maturity or useless remarks. Otherwise, I wouldn't be using the ignore button.

Hmm... where do I start?
This is a forum that will welcome everyone with open arms even the JJ Golds. We want to be tolerant because after all everyone is different. Not everyone wants to talk about middling the East Carolina game. Some posters will have strong posts one day and cut up a little the next.
SBR mods are going to make sure there is not a break down into insults and name calling.
The forum is two and a half months old. We are committed to making it the very best. However, we are not going to restrict the forum to only those who stay on topic or are well behaved.

lol...so you one of the guys that look for entertainment on a forum of a very important site. A site about saving you money, helping you to gain money, etc.
So you are 1 of the reasons that this forum sucks now.
That its nowhere close to the high standard that SBR is, and that a SBR forum SHOULD BE.
I have many posts? maybe...but i spend max 30mins per day on here. EVERYTIME i log on i see the SAME people here.
Its not me that is addicted, some of you need help just like JJ and the other clowns do.
Ok back to real life, cause this is pathetic.

JJ isn't gone...he simply created another alias. Personally, I suspect he is moneylinemaker.
Anyway...Mudcat as usual makes great points.
What I think needs to be done is to start having a membership process. I mean no fee or anything but you are kind of on a trial basis and then the mods or other members decide whether you can continue. I know it sounds kind of elitist, but remember if we are going to be different than we have to do things differently.
Plus, we know from persuasion theory that when something is taken away from someone they want it even more badly (reactance theory). Once people find out that the posters are serious here then there will be more desire b/c of the selectivity. Let Covers and the RX have the garbage and trash out there. Look how low quality those forums are.
Just my opinion though but would like to see this forum evolve into something special.

I'm also beginning to wonder if JJ is really gone. He has no life outside of this forum and gambling. What is he going to do to pass the time? If he really did go to GA, I'm very happy for him and I wish him the best. His leaving just happened a little too abruptly and it just seems suspicious.

I've been on this site for a couple months and quite frankly I don't know what to believe. There are certain posters I take serious for wagering info and those I my only read for a good laugh.
That said. I'll take the No (-195).
