Arrow DELAWARE sportsbetting hits HUGE SNAG

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - A U.S. appeals court ruled on Monday that a plan by Delaware to allow sports betting violates federal law, siding with major sports leagues who had argued it would promote game fixing.
A three-judge panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruled against the state which wanted to allow betting on single games in all the major sports from September 1 at three of its racetrack betting locations.
Delaware, which is seeking additional revenue to overcome an $800 million budget deficit, would have been the second state after Nevada to allow betting on sporting events.
Attorneys for the U.S. professional leagues for football, baseball, basketball and hockey had sought an injunction against the plan on the grounds that sports betting would encourage game fixing and violate a 1992 federal law that sought to prevent the spread of sports betting.
Circuit judge Theodore McKee said the Delaware plan would violate the 1992 law. The court was due to issue an order explaining its ruling later on Monday.

As of right now, there appears to be no sportsbetting coming to DELAWARE.

Correct?

This is bullshit. This will not be the end. Like you said JJ millions were sent to upgrade these room. This is going to move to the Supreme Court and then they will rule that it is unconstitutional to only allow one place to profit off of sports gambling and not let anyone else. This delay is gonna suck. They were a week away and now I bet it takes at least a year to get this done.

1. NEVADA
2. ONLINE
3. OTHER COUNTRIES
4. LOCALS

BetPhoenix just gave out 60% in bonuses, whereas you would have been lucky to get a free cracker in Delaware.

I think they are technically not on US soil and therefore not subject to federal laws. Could be wrong about that though, but I think they have independent jurisdiction. I don't know why they don't have sports betting.

Is sports fixing easier when something is regulated or un-regulated. Sports fixing is still happening to this day to some extent, some get caught some don't. I am of the opinion that if something is regulated it is less likely to happen. Either way games will be fixed, it just whether or not the government wants their share. As of now they don't, they are happy to send the money offshore.

I wonder if it was vegas or the leagues whom padded the judges pockets or both? This is just more proof that corporations own this country A US State that when this country was founded was never meant to be restricted by federal law to such an effect other than if it severly mistreated its citizens or abused its power is now being told how to govern itself on the most miniscule of topics such as sports betting? I am ashamed to be an American on days like today. Bush, Obama, and the guys before and to come are all clowns and pawns in a crooked game I think its funny they are worried about the "integrity" of the game and not of their own courts or government! the judges today were not even supposed to be ruling on the legality of the plan only on whether to place a temporary injunction until this moved to trial. I wholeheartidly hope this goes to the supreme court and the entire law is overturned as unconstitutional because it is! Monopolys are against federal law in this country as well yet Vegas is the perfect example of such an entity.

This will eventually be allowed along with the legalization of pot. Both are ridiculous laws. I really thought this was gonna happen when I saw it being advertised like it was. Delaware had put out some serious cash to get this going and now it basically got thrown right back in there face. This will get passed and when it does they are gonna lift the whole federal ban and then you are going to have betting places opening up left and right. In the long run these sports leagues should of just let it go because now it is going to get pushed to the Supreme Court where they will rule this unconstitutional. Then I wanna hear all these little ****ing leagues bitch and moan when they realize they were the catalyst for opening the flood gates to every state. This whole integrity of the game crap is such horse shit. If these leagues are so concerned about there integrity why did baseball turn a blind eye to steroid use? I would think taking steroids effects the integrity of the game more then placing a wager on it. Half these teams are already linked up with sponsorships from casinos as it is. The Sacramento Kings are owned by the Maloof brothers who own the Palms in Vegas where they offer a sportsbook! I could go on and on about how this is just bullshit.

I hope your right LC, vick and plaxico will play again steroid use is rampant there have been obvious fixes and noone step in to say anything Donaghey goes down and no other refs are looked at (he was NOT alone in this I would bet anything on that) the whole system is hypocrisy. Why would this court even rule on the legality of this when all they were supposed to do is issue an injunction or not? That is fishy and stinks like an unbathed hooker what a disaster.

I can place a wager on a damn horse, mindlessly throw coins into a slot machine, hope that 5 random balls come out of a machine but I cannot legally place a wager on a sporting event?

Sports wagering takes no skill????? Where is the skill in trying to pick numbers where you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning? Where's the skill in putting a quarter into a machine and pulling a damn lever?

It's crap like this that pisses me off about this country. Gov't is supposed to be for the people by the people. If people want to wager on sports should we not be allowed to??
