Default looking to buy a computer today but im clueless!

should i buy online or in a store? what brand, model etc.

how much should it cost?

what its needed for- email, sports wagering, websites like forums, excel (but it doesnt have to be excel exactly, can be a similar program if its free. and i dont want virueses. Please point me in the right direction! really just want good fast internet i think.

You can get a good computer for $400. Look into bestbuy and microcenter. As long as it has a CD/DVD writer and atleast 160 GB Hard Drive and 512MB memory you should be fine, if you are using for surfing, music and movies. Depends on what your using for though?

Best Buy usually has a solid HP computer offer every week. Go pickup a newspaper today and look at their ads. Can also look at the office places.

I used to recommend Dell, but their customer service has really gone down hill.

For online, I would check out FatWallet.com and look in some of their computer deal forums.

And if it is running Windows Vista which I assume it will be, you need to have at least 3GBs of RAM, but in the 400 and up price range most do.

Best buy has great deal... Laptops have even come down to the 500-600$ mark in fact Walmart , I know walmart has good deals on Dells

im a big dell fan myself but alot of stores have some computers that are on line and not in stores so i would check online first

well like i said im a dell man,but the best way to get the best price is to buy it direct from the company,this way you dont have to pay the middleman
