Default How Do You Become A Bookie?

Where do you start? I have held guys bets but that is about it. How do you get customers? How many guys do you hire? Who's lines do you use? Do you pull fliers out at bars? Do you use an 800 number? Do you use CR call centers to handle everything?

If you ask me then its easier and safer to start exchange type bookie.

And even with that you need a risk capital of ~$1m...

Get lines from BetRadar, you can see whole market there.

I would use CRIS lines (and bring them out early too), offer something like -108 instead of bonuses, make sure my Website is fast and reliable...and have enough cash i dont need to survive of course

This is what I always wanted to do but I've been out of the game so long that it would take too much work to build a clientele that was "square".

Quote Pinnacle lines at the standard 10% juice. Just be a broker. Believe it or not: there are still people out there that still pay 10% vig to their local. When I was into it pretty deep, some people were paying 20% vig on totals. Unbelievable!!!!

If I could find a clientele that was still willing to pay 10% vig on sides and 20% vig on totals, I'd quote Pinnacle lines to them and just make the vig. The other part is making sure that you have guys that will pay. That's the real tricky part.

If you'd open a Bookie, or anyone of us, you would make loses and you would shut it down in 2 months

Start at Colleges and Sports Bars. Hire a few body-builders for muscle.

Min bets = $11 for straight bets (maybe even $22). $5 for parlays (maybe $10). Your time = $$. Don't work for peanuts.

If lines in question, accept lines from a major book.

I never was a bookie, but worked in a 'office' for 4 years. I was like a middle man, besides answering phones, making collections, paying off, that sort of thing.
Get a job with a book, you can learn from the inside looking in.

I would not start an online book now. not with the climate the way it is and the wacky US govt. invading other peoples countries and whatnot.

Yes, I will be around until 5pm, then have to go open the Bar. I am sick as hell right now with the flu and infection, will be around all day.

Move offshore and change your name. Start up an online site, and spend all your time marketing for new clients. When funds get low, steal from your clients(claim bonus abuse, or professional play), close shop, and move back into the states.

Gain some clientele on the streets, the way a drug dealer would, and begin a underground bookmaking group using the funds your stole.
