Well, first thing of all, I hate being favored as we now are in this game. Bama typically never does well with a preseason top 5 ranking. That's just the Kiss of Death in seasons past when we've been coached by lesser men. Saban however is different and with his coaching ethic and style won't put a team on the field that can't win a ball game.

Sure, Bama lost the last two ball games..post season at that. We were beaten by the best team in the nation, by a Heisman Trophy QB who sigle handedly won that ball game for Florida..no one else. Bama was deflated and felt anything less than the Championship Game was pointless to play after the season they had fought through. Absolutely Bama was outplayed from start to finish in that game. What purpose did it serve one way or the other?

As for the VT game. Only two real questions remain with Bama this first game of the season. How will Greg McElroy handle the QB job(moreso..who's his backup is my concern) and just how vulnerable is the O line without a skilled veteran like Andre Smith. The D is as stout as ever. Our running corps is just as good with Mark Ingram, Nick Walker, with Julio Jones to handle the recieving dept.

The biggest question is The Freshmen. With another top recruiting class on hand it's likely there are those like Julio Jones last season that will be starters and leaders the same.

The reality...they are 5 days into fall camp and just finishing with day 2 in full pads so you're just not going to know much yet. Give me 20 more days and we'll know.

If played today...Don't bet against Bama. This isn't Shula, Franphoney, nor Dubose coaching. Saban's a real live football coach that the University of Alabama hasn't seen the likes of in decades.

Don't say Bama lost their RB. They have 4 that Saban considers as starters and will find ways to get them involved in the game. And that isn't even taking Julio Jones into account. The only question I can see is the O line. Between graduation, Smith leaving early and another one leaving due to injuries and not being able to play, that is the weak spot of the team. The defense makes me giddy. I feel that is gonna be something so fun to watch. Hopefully Tiffin will play pissed off all year for that beating he got a few months ago and remembers those stitches he got in his kicking foot. N
