Default Diogee...wtf Crabtree talking about sitting season out!!

This sounds pretty shittty, this guys cousin who is his advisor is telling him to sit out nfl season and sit out season to re-enter draft.... This guy needs doesnt think hes getting enough money offered as the #10 pick, what an idiot.... Crabtree was on a pass heavy offense and he got hurt and hes saying he is not getting enough money at #10, I liked this kid too now im not to sure..

No way in hell he sits out the season. If he entered the draft next year after sitting out, he might not even get picked in the 1st round and will make a lot less. He will sign before the 1st game so he can go buy expensive cars and bling and piss away most of his signing bonus.

Yeah I read that earlier. Think it is just the typical ploy to get more $$$. This would be terrible if it happened...been looking forward to seeing him in Red&Gold. Just missing out on crucial camp time and hurting himself. Morgan has impressed in camps and put himself in a good position while Crab can't get a contract negotiated to start learning the offense. Too many of these kids want the huge money right off the bat and he wants better than what a 10 usually gets. Hope this can be resolved...just see this type of thing way too much in todays game.

Davis telling him to get his ass in now...interesting that he would be the one to speak up. Hopefully Singletary has started to get his underachieving ass to put full effort on the field.

First, it's generally not a good idea to have a cousin for your "advisor" (unless he's got some special background that actually qualifes him for the job) ... You've got an agent for a reason. Let your agent do your talking for you. And his agent isn't saying any of this crap.

Look, I'm sorry Crabtree had a stress fracture in his foot and couldn't perform at the combine. I'm sorry the Raiders are idiots and took a guy who can run real fast but can't catch a cold in front of Crabtree...but the facts are he was the 10th pick in the draft. He's not a QB. So, no extra money for the QB position.

Michael let me give you some excellent career advice: You're gonna get 10 pick money. Period. End of discussion. Sign the fvcking contract and get into camp.

NFL is the only sport where rookies blackmail teams. Try to pull this crap in soccer and you will be happy to even have a job. Unproven rookies asking for millions...

Default Crazy as most athletes are.

He probably comes from a pretty humble background where all he has to do is to sign a contract, get the signing bonus and if he gets hurt the 1st day of practice where he can never play again,he's set for life.Very, very poor money management and common sense on behalf of all these athletes and he better watch out because he might be in some club and get shot and never make a penny from an NFL salary.

    Right on.

Not a team player. He should take a page from the Fitz. I went to the Cards training camp. Great team spirit. Both Fitz and Warner have offered to take paycuts to keep Boldin happy.

The pros are working their asses off in training camp, getting all the details down. Crabtree will be so far behind, he might as well sit out the season. Who needs a piece of sh*t like that?

At least one 49-er is not happy:

49ers tight end Vernon Davis believes that rookie Michael Crabtree should report to camp and end his holdout.

"[Crabtree] needs to get his butt here and help this team out," Davis told ESPN's Colleen Dominguez on Friday. "He has a chance to be a big-time player. He should take what he can get, and get here."

As Diogee mentioned, this is just a negtiation strategy. Nothing more, nothing less.

A strategy it is. But it may not work.

    Cleveland considered him:

This guy was gonna have enough trouble adjusting to the NFL as it was, even if he signed very early on. Now as time rolls on the likelihood he will contribute at all this year is basically nil. 49ers have absolutely no reason to buckle now, the damage has already been done.

If I was an NFL owner I would push so hard for a rookie salary cap. Just to protect myself from potential Ryan Leaf's...

That's pretty much what happened to Jamarcus Russell out in Oakland. He held out so long that he was so far behind that his rookie year was pretty much a bust.

Of course, you could argue that every year in Oakland since their last Super Bowl appearance has pretty much been a bust...

If he sits he would be late 1st at best. Probably a very late first or very early second. That would cost him easily $10,000,000. Hence; he is on the last few days of his holdout.

I think he is worth the money or at least is a prospect worth the coin. But he is not a John Elway, who refused to play for some team I think Detroit or Balt. An Elway type player would still be a top 3 pick, so they would only lose 1 years salary. Btw, 1 year salary could be around 1/7th of your careers earnings if you get 7 good years out of the NFL. So holding out and re entering the draft is not an option unless you are a top 3 pick imo.

Funny that EVERYONE shit all over the Raiders for not taking him...

He had made it pretty clear he didn't want to be a Raider, and Cleveland commented on his attitude issues.

Whats funnier, if it was the Raiders he was holding out on, everyone would be blaming Al Davis and the Raiders instead of Crabtree.
