Anyone else thinking Watson just might win this thing?
He just birdied 7 to take a 2 stroke lead.
He continues to roll in putt after putt.
This will be the story of the year if he pulls this off.
The difference between Norman at 53 last year, and Watson at 59 this year is huge. Norman made a career of choking it off in his throat during the last rounds of major championships...Watson played his best when it counted...think about 77 when he shot 65 on Sunday to beat Jack, and the Open at Pebble when he chipped in on 17 on Sunday to beat Jack. Watson has been there.
If Watson does win this...he owes JJ 25% of his take. JJ guaranteed Watson's win on Thursday when he told us Watson would disappear. JJ---I hope you know some folks at IMG who do Watson's agent work---they owe you money.

MB, sound like a big golf and Watson fan! Don't think he will make it through 4 days! A few experienced names behind him! M Calc. is surprising me too! Watching for first time this week, let's see how the 9th hole par putt goes?

Well a bunch of people said he would've slowed down by now but he's still going. You have to give the old man credit. He's playing great.

King kind of hits on something there....Watson has some serious experience playing this type of golf.
As for being a Watson fan...not really, just a big sports fan. I was a 7 years old when Watson beat Jack at Turnberry and remember watching it with my dad.
I am a sucker for big sports stories, and this one would qualify.

I never saw a posted number for him, he would have just been under the "Field" line.

The odds on Tiger missing the cut and Watson winning had to be at least 20,000-1

Couple tough putts that just missed for Watson on 10 and 11. On such a roll with his swing that if he loses it the putter will do him in. His later years in golf that was the club that killed him!

Watson is falling hard. He will shoot an 80 tomorrow. Fatigue will catch up on him because of the wind factor which causes more power to be used to hit the ball in fairways and out of the rough. Pick the youngest guy in the Top 10 to win tomorrow.

yes he is struggling big time to make pars now, and when he does its a long putt, he will definitely fade but what a great effort. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone will finish below par in this tourney.

Watson just birdied 16 and 17 to take the lead again.
Tirico on ABC just said Ladbrokes? in Scotland had Watson at 1000-1.

Can't see him fading on Sunday now! Still believe he won't win it, but will be waking up for this one for sure!

Its crazy to think that the highlights of Watson winning in 1977 were taken 32 YEARS ago, just amazing.
Imagine telling someone on that day, you know Tom Watson will lead this tourney, at this course after 3 rounds, in 2009! Obviously they'd look at you like you were from another planet.

If he wins, he will of all but wrapped up the SI SPORTSMAN of the year award.
Actually, if he wins, this may be the greatest feat in golfing we will have witnessed in our lifetimes.

Martin, looking up the greens in reg and fairways hit, Watson sure has been steady. Only saw some action on Sat. and the young guys (mostly Americans) who like to throw darts at the greens can't do it here! Watson has that feel to bounce it up there! Westwood numbers wise has been the most consistent, guy I fear the most screwing it up for Watson! Might be his time to win a major?
