Arrow Miami Hurricanes football player Bryan Pata shot and killed

Man, it just keeps getting worse for the Miami Hurricanes. I hate to hear things like this.

Hurricanes tackle shot, killed leaving practice field
ESPN.com news services

University of Miami defensive tackle Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after leaving the practice field, according to a university official with knowledge of the situation.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement still was being prepared by the university, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Pata's death.

Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened.

Pata, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound senior, took over the starting role at left defensive end for coach Larry Coker over the latter part of the 2004 season and had held it since. He was studying criminology.

I just heard about that on tv myself. I didn't catch who it was though. Surely somebody had to see something comming off the practice field though. It's truely a tragic time for the canes.

Nobody deserves to have his life taken like that, and it makes it that more sad when you hear that the guy was a great team player because you don't see that too often anymore.

I think they will come out inspired, although I read that QB Kyle Wright is questionable for this one...
