Default Thinking seriously of vacationing/moving to l.a.ca. ?

Hello people of SBR ! My first thread here.I have a important question for anyone with experience at living in LA.
I've been checking their weather climate and it's looks great.I am from the Midwest ,and man I am sick of the summer heat /humidity !
First a little History on me .
I also have a couple health flaws,I overheat very easily! Also suffer from [ terrible at times] allergies !
Without these ugly flaws, I sometime dream about being the best "athlete" on the floor many years ago,and where my athletic ability, combined with great desire could have taken me?
Now here is the genuine "fact of life" !There were many times I was the "best" on the basketball floor....for a few minutes, and then ,after getting so over-heated ,I was reduced to less than an average player .Didn't matter what sport it was .It was the same old pattern.
Okay ,moving on now,I believe I like what I see in LA !I think the salty sea air would be much healthier for me?And the climate seems to be awful steady, like average through out the ,high 70's,low 50's .
You have mountains ,sea, sand, skimpy clothed chicks everywhere, hollywood stars, bike trails, and better quality and variety of foods, right?
I am retired,divorced for a year now,so I am almost 100% free !
My dog keeps me from that 100% .He goes where I go ,best pal I ever had!
I know the rental places, apartments, even studio's,are extra expensive.
I would be looking for something quite less than luxury .The smaller the better .I plan on doing a lot of bicycling ,therefore, getting this body back where it once was,20lbs less. Driving is not very high on my list of things I want to do there .
Anyone have any thought's that will help me with this "major" change in my life?
Sorry about the length of my first thread ...

If you don't like driving, don't move to LA.

I have lived in LA. and I would never live there again. I live a little over an hour away in Santa Barbara, it is much nicer and has everything you need. Better looking girls, people are nicer, good yayo, 11 medical marijuana stores and everyone here has here weed card. It's paradise living here but not paradise in LA.

Phoenix is too hot!

Go to San Diego or somewhere warm but slightly cooler

Abehonest, beautiful place, beautiful weather but you must have alot of money from inheritance or some found money to be serious about moving there. No rational person that actually worked hard for their money would be a glutten for punishment to be financially raped out there.

Look towards Laughlin,Nevada for a nice place to get away from it all.No state taxes and it's right next to Arizona and California. It's got the best of many worlds.Gambling, golf and water recreation on the Colorado River ,big shopping district in Bullhead City next door, low crime, low housing prices.etc.Less than 2 hours from Vegas too. Some neat towns like Oatman,Arizona a few minutes away on old route 66 that's sort of a gold mining ghost town-tourist trap.Take up metal detecting and such as a hobbie. You can leave Laughlin after breakfast and be in LA for lunch. It's near the freeway.

I think L.A. is a dump. If you want to move out west then you go to Phoenix or Tucson.

Maybe if you work in construction or are a lifeguard. If not, then you work in an air-conditioned office all day then you go home to a swimming pool.

That heat makes your body feel great.
