Default What do you think of this deal??

An employee from one of the bigger Danish newspapers has been offering the following deal for a couple of years now:

Deposit x amount with him and let him bet with it for 1 year. He will post all his plays every day. In case he wins, you will get 50-75% of the winnings (a sponsor or guarantor takes the rest). In case he loses, you will always get x amount + 5% after one year.

The payments are made yearly or earlier if certain conditions of the "club" in question is fulfilled (one of the clubs has the condition that payments are made either after one year or when the money is doubled if that happens earlier).

So in other words, you are guaranteed a 5% interest, but you have the option of getting way more.

Is this too good to be true?

I have joined 3 of his current clubs. One of them is especially good, as he is betting horses (V75 if that means anything to persons outside Scandinavia). The volatility on this one is very very high, but as you are guaranteed 5% no matter what, the option value is huge. Last year they managed to double the initial deposits giving you a 100% interest in 1 year. 2 Years ago they lost it all though paying out only x + 5%.

where does he get the x+5% from if he looses all your money?

He claims to have a guarantor who pays the losses. This guarantor also takes a % of the eventual winnings. I suspect though that he uses deposits from new clubs to pay off old clubs - a ponzi scheme, but I have no idea.

It must be a ponzi sceme. Why would the guarantor be a guarantor when he could be a full participant?

All kidding aside, there's no way this is legit. Why would the guarantor give up all that equity for nothing?

Anyone interested in this deal might be interested in my online casino. Normal casino roulette only pay you evens on black/red and give the house a big edge with the 0 on the wheel.

My casino is different. I payout at odds of 2-1 on red/black. Only a fool would pass up an offer like that. I'm literally giving money away here.

Anyone interested should send me funds via ** and tell me which colour they want to choose. I'll then spin my roulette wheel and, if you are a winner, I'll send you back your deposit with your winnings in a matter of minutes. If you lose then I'll even offer you a 50% reload bonus with only a x1 rollover.

I would not consider it for more than 1.5 sec. Every country has nice volume of scammers. The logic of Korchnoi is evidence. Rather join the Taco-Iset concern, they need a Danish CEO, because the country is well known as "where everybody aren't fukked up scammers"

It is possible. We saw the brothers in Costa Rica pay 3% a month for 6-7 years before they got pinched.

If you are very sophisticated you can scalp soccer between Asian lines and Euro lines. But if he just picking a side then its only a matter of time before he starts selling tooth whitener.

Danes are usually smart and want to lock in winnings rather than gamble (didnt they start all the bonus farming), but why should there be less scammers there than anywhere else?

If they were legit scalpers, why did they need to pay so much to borrow the money? When you say "pinched" do you mean arrested (if so for what?) or they got in a pinched in the sense of their position blew up (b/c their hedge was bad or a default)?

Slash, come on you really did not join these clubs, did you? If you did you need some serious help. I am surprised you would even bring this to our attention on a serious level.

5% return isn't much. Not for a sports gambler. I'd rather keep my money working for me. Isn't that the point of betting? Why work for money when it can work for you?

If you want to buy some magic beans from me ($100 a time, payment via ** - PM me for details) then I can try to extrapolate the data for Thailand as a whole.
