    Default Swapbets

    Bill,

on October 17 you reported that Swapbets is partly owned by International All Sports.

While that was the case with the old Swapbets, of which IAS bought 50% just months before they closed the operation, I don't think IAS controls (in full or in part) the new company.

Sportalnet, the name of the company that runs the new Swapbets, is controlled by Italian capitals.

I thought you may want to look at the rating as Swapbets is just one of many exchanges with no liquidity (and I imagine no future) all trying to replicate the success of Betfair...

Swapbets is actually getting big in Europe. How do you know that they are controlled by Italian Capitals?

Unless we are talking about two different Swapbets, the one that recently got licensed in Malta (as Bill reported) has just started its operation and I haven't seen any money available either to back or lay on the few soccer matched they quote/quoted.

So I'm not sure what you mean by "is getting big."

    How do I know?

    My mom told me.

Heard a lot about them in European forums and good feedback.

Maybe a couple of years ago...

But they weren't doing so good and they stopped operating on January this year...

Now is a completely different company.

    Hi Pier, How goes it?

Yea, IAS initially planned on having a bigger role with Swapbets, especially with the racing.

Swap's GM is still Fernando Orlandi who was one of the directors when IAS listed their subsidiary as IBC Plc. I'm pretty sure SportalNet is a company name created specifically for the new license in pursuit of lower taxes. There wasn't any news of a change in controlling interests or shares for that matter.

I have been trying to catch up with Mr. Edge, who probably spends more time flying than on the ground, about IAS's future role in this project. I did verify with SwapBets that they are partially owned by IAS.

As always, any updates you come across would be appreciated!

If that is the case I stand corrected, I must tell my sources to verify their info.

It may well be the case that IAS is not interested anymore in that project as I remember when they bought 50% of the old Swapbets they had been unsuccessful in getting a license from the Northern Territory to open their own betting exchange.

Now as they've got a sports betting license for Canbet in the Northern Territory and with all the heat Betfair is getting in Australia, they might have change plans.

Howewer, I don't see how an exchange with no liquidity can be rated a B...unless you consider just the safety of players' funds.

But then you have Betdaq, which is probably safer than Betfair, rated as a C...

    This is just to talk...

    Pags,

That is because each company runs under a different business model in a different jurisdiction targeting a different market.

I doubt that is a rating criteria...it wouldn't make much sense...

Were you asking a question or are you saying that Betdaq is rated C because no one plays there from the US ?

Liquidity on Betdaq is very poor compared to Betfair.

Now they have raised their com to 5% I can't see any real reason to use them, especially as Betfair have cut their com on the Asians to 1%
