Although I think Pokerjoe up there is an idiot I have to disagree with some people saying how unimportant this was especially to USA soccer. Yes the Euro players have been playing a lot but had USA gotten beaten down by Spain what would everyone say? It would be the same thing..."USA can't compete...it was shown again. USA sucks. USA soccer still doesn't have a clue." USA wins and they can't get credit from anyone either, its automatically "this is a meaningless tourney." The fact is that this was important to the USA squad...no it wasn't in the World Cup but it does give them a lot of confidence going into the World Cup next year. It lets them know they can play with anyone in the world and maybe just maybe puts a tiny bit of doubt in the teams that they play going forward......

And if you think that Spain, with their absolute A lineup, with their record win streak and unbeaten streak on the line, and in a state of constant, desperate attack, wasn't trying, you know nothing about anything.
Spain got out-played, as did Italy by the US in the last WC (another meaningless tourney, you'll claim) and Germany in the previous WC (yet another meaningless tourney, I'm sure).
And England? LOL, England can't even get in the game.

The US had won nothing in the World Cup. They went once to the round of 16. Italy has won it 5 times and are always in the semis or quarters. This tournament is not the same caliber as the World Cup. Mike knows more about european soccer than any of you faggots combined.

My point was AMBY, on all known form Spain were rightfully favs, albeit far too short for me. USA have been playing shitty, boring football for some time and only scraped through in this due to other teams help. There was no way anyone could look at the USA and think 'oh yeah, that's a good bet,' other than from the point of view it was A) a good line in a two-horse race and B) as i already pointed out, Spain were over confident and weren't bothered about being there.
To come on here like that prick after the fact and say 'I told you so and youre all fukkin stupid' is ridiculous on about 20 levels. |

I was the first to admit that I didn't bet this game. I was just happy to watch and root for USA....I agree USA has played some boring football and that is just another reason that I personally couldn't put any money on them.
I also very much doubt that pokerjoe up there had money on the match either...I am sure he is talking out his ass. If he did I would love to see his ticket and how much he put on USA if he was so confident that they would win.

And as reagrds 'meaningless,' it certainly wasn't an insult to the USA, let me clarify. The Spanish players have been playing full-time since the end of last July, including Champions League, and all they want to do is fukk off to the beach. I'm not saying they weren't trying but it isn't a massive shock that they lost and well done to USA for that. If anyone who watched this game thinks it would have been the same in a World Cup semi-final they're deluded. The only reason I couldn't pull the trigger on USA is because just lately they've been terrible, so for the guy to think his winnings came out of my pocket is laughable. And by the way, how did this fantastically motivated team get on V Iraq? I knew you were a twat when i saw your post in the other thread saying FIFA are biased towards America, the one country they'd do anything for to see the game really take off here.
