Monday's Positive Energy thread
Okay boys, we didn't get a chance to get any official plays in today but let's see what everyone likes for tomorrow.
Gotta give it up to our guy, dreamjob, hitting a 6teamer earlier today
Now, let's get back on our horse, harness our positive energy and pick us some winners!
My picks for tomorrow (using the star system) are as follows:
***Col ML--- if Kershaw could hold the Angels, Cook should be able to as well
**Atl ML--- Vazquez is the pitcher that will cool down Chicago
*Stl ML--- Prob more of an instinct pick, but I like Wellemeyer over Redding. Plus, the Stl bats have been better recently

Alright, I'll go game by game here and list my feelings and reactions about these match ups.
STL/NYM: These teams met earlier in the year in STL where the Mets where swept. Being an NL match, both of these pitchers have faced eachother's teams. The battles were dominated by hitting in the past; as the Mets have hit Welly for .422 lifetime and the Cards hit Redding for .333. The Mets strike out less than any team in the league and the Cards are right behind them in third place (6 per game). To top things off, the Cards are third last in the league with strikeouts on their pitching end.
I see this game going down as slugfest, with both teams putting the ball in play and taking their hacks. Neither team has had very impressive bullpens of late, so I could see runs piling up all throughout the game. Weather is a factor, as light rain is predicted throughout the match. Winds will be coming from left field which might slow hitting to some extent. Regardless, I still see this game going over the 9.5. The Mets are a questionable favorite here, with serious team struggles and roster isssues. The real contender here is STL, and has dominated the Mets so far this year. My picks for this matchup would be STL* and over 9.5**.

I'm glad we both like Stl...
Hopefully our PEP squad likes them too!

COL/LAA: The Angels suffered yet another defeat tonight, and it stems from their cooling bats. Vlad is nowhere near 100% and Abreu is just a plain joke. Hunter is the main powerhouse right now. As for pitching, Palmer has been great for LA this year, but the Rockies have hit him well last year when he played for SF. Cook has been a force for COL, boasting an impressive ERA in a hitters park.
The Rockies began their little streak on the road, and I don't see it stopping. They've proven their ability to win tight games and are looking with new management to throw their hat into the wildcard ring for the NL. I think we'll see both clubs start off slow against these pitchers, but the Rockies battle late to grab victory in a tight game. My picks here would be COL* and the under 9*.

just my thoughts
I've taken this weekend off on the count of having a friends birthday party that I was at all day/night yesterday and fathersday today but I'll be back tomorrow...
*and I won't play these parlays bc I don't play parlays... but I'll discuss just for fun

SFO/OAK: Both of these teams are horrid at hitting and run producing and rely mainly on pitching and defense (the Giants having the edge in these departments). Sanchez has a pretty spotty record thus far this year, while Cahill has been a solid performer for the A's. Oakland has seen their bats heat up against SD, but going back home to face a lefty is troublesome since their record stands at 9-16 this year against said pitchers. Giants look to carry on their 3 game win streak against the AL across the bay.
Giants are clearly the better team in this match, but their starter is troublesome. The main problem in this game as I see it is whether or not Sanchez gets lit up early, mainly because the Giants don't have enough firepower to mount a decent comeback. I'm really torn on this one, and will have to look at the odds more. Right now I'd lean SFO(+130)* and the under 8(+100)*.

Whatever you say bud. Why don't you just contribute? I'm down to play only your picks tomorrow. If you don't we're all gonna start secretly fading ourselves and posting our opposite picks to force you to lose... In fact, how do you know that's not what we are doing right now?
How 'bout it? Wanna post your plays?

Oh she said to me. you may go back into her room(living room) and may crawl up against her on her bed(coach) if you are still feeling neglected. Of course, after she is done with her "friends".
She also stressed the for you to NOT, i repeat NOT leave your room, you will end up committing suicide if you see what is going on.

Fiasco and E Mike were talking in faker's thread about us prob doing a couple of dog plays in our parlays or maybe even more 4 teamers to get better payouts. Considering we just missed the 4 teamer with a Krod blown save, maybe we should try that.... Or maybe pick a couple of dog plays that everyone likes
I'm down for Col and Sf... Those look mighty tasty

CUB/ATL: Both of these starters are plain studs, but can't seem to get any damn run support from their teams. Last 3 outings have fetched 5 team runs for Dempster and only 4 for Vazquez. The Cubs pitching has been the main key to their success this year, but their bats seem to be heating up (or was it just the terrible bullpen of the Indians?) The Braves are coming off an impressive (but losing) showing against Boston and look to improve their record at home.
A couple of interesting things about these clubs: The Braves 12-17 at home but .500 on the road. Cubs are 13-18 on the road. Cubs are 3-9 when listed as dogs. Both clubs deserve "underachievers" awards.
This one comes down to pitching as I see it. I expect solid outings from each starter, it just depends on who gets the most help. Sure, the Cubs have won 4 straight but three of them came at the hands of bullpen meltdowns. Atlanta's bullpen has sported a .417 WHIP in 7 innings of use in the last 3 games! I think the Braves can get this one taken care of, I'll lean ATL(-135)** and the Under 8 (-110)*.
