Default Phil's going to retire and Lakers chances of repeat is doom!

I think Phil Jackson done, this guys has gotten what he wanted and that's 10 NBA Finals rings all alone on the top. Even Kobe recent interview on the NBA channels doesn't sound confident, Phil might return. Look likes this going to be Kobe last run in LA at returning to the Championship. Plus Odom will be out, and Ariza will probably look for a big pay day somewhere else.

Congrats on the Championsip though, Laker fans!

give up, you will never be on the same level as we were.....2 THREE PEATS! Kobe lost in 2 finals, it isnt happening. Phil said he didnt want to coach this year but he will finish the season and do ONE more season.

I really don't know what would motivate him to continue coaching anymore. What difference does it make if he wins 6 more championships from here on out, the guys record will never be broken and will be consider the best no matter what.

I think he will leave on Top, like MJ and John Elway. Of course Jordan came back, but nobody will remember him for that.

the lakers dont have the team for a 3 peat. They could have easily been knocked out this year.

i agree. phil knows this, too. he knows he was very lucky to not have to play lebron or KG. he got a young magic team that was not ready. next yr, lebron and KG will be ready, maybe the magic, too. i think he might retire but if does come back it will only be to win a title and when that does not happen next season, he will leave

the lakers will not repeat, too much has to go right for them again and too much wrong for everyone else. it's not happening.

huh? he cant quit cause he still has a year left on his contract. But if he did due to health reason, will do some good cause its painful to see him walk even just on their practices

Phil will leave on top of the game w/ 10 rings...plus like Hoopster said..next year he WILL not repeat..too many things need to occur for that to happen

your post was too vague, you did not give reasons why. let me give you and example of what is NOT a vague post:

reasons why phil might try and retire early and forget next yr's money

    1) the nuggets are getting better, much better
    2) the spurs will make offseason moves and ginobli will come back healthy meaning the spurs will be much better next yr
    3) houston gets mcrady and yao back healthy and looks ready to make a serious move
    4) cleveland and lebron are very hungry
    5) boston will get KG back healthy
    6) orlando now knows what it feels like to make the finals and will be much tougher next time around

these are the first 6 reasons, and there are more, as to why i believe the lakers will NOT repeat in '10
