Credibility of SBR in big jeopardy
With every JJ post (or Raiders or Slugger post), the credibility of this forum takes a step down.
The Mods are really struggling these days with this fool known as JJGold.
This is an informal petition to get this guy banned so we can have a normal forum once again. Just write yes if you would like to see JJ kicked off. I'll start it up:

BuddyBear, just leave it to the SBR guys.
If they're happy with the way jjgold behaves on the forums then you will have to deal with it or go elsewhere. If they're not happy with it, then they'll take action.
Insults/witch hunts from either side aren't conduisive to helping the situation.

My bitch-ass wife used to yell at the dog for the irritating noises he made but she actually made more annoying noise with her yelling. The dog kept to himself but my bitch (meaning my wife, dog was a male) complained to everyone.

Guys have fun but SBR will not allow any personal stuff. The mods are going to be instructed to move personal attacks to the Private Forum.
SBR likes everyone and everyone is invited to enjoy the forum. However neither JJ Gold, myself or anyone else will be allowed to take cheap shots.

Good call, Brick! (sorta Aesop-like). Seriously, JJ is a cartoon at times, humorous occassionally, tedious quite frequently, often insightful......but not even close to being worthy of all this controversy. he's probably basking in all this attention. no need to boot this guy, or anybody, in my book. But what do I know, I never take much of anything very seriously on-line. Although the story about JJ getting banned from the old folks home is FRIGGING hilarious

Didn't we have this exact discussion a week ago, then a week ago before that? We should just sticky a "JJGOLD sucks" thread to the top of the forum, so newbies know the deal. JJGOLD is a bit of a clown, but we need a mascot around here.

I agree with BB's premise. There are some credibility issues. The specific example of the forum endorsing the use of multiple identities by one poster is a good one. What is the message there? Is everyone encouraged to get a few aliases going?
The suggeston that the solution is to ignore the problem doesn't work for me. I personally have more respect for the approach of trying to make things better.
The same would be true if SBR started having advertising banners from Jagbet and BetUS. It's true that one "solution" would be to ignore them - but that is not my instinct.
To some extent, the problem is expectations. When this forum started, a lot of people had an expectation that it would be elite. Speaking for myself, I assumed it would become vibrant with intelligent discussion of sportsbooks and systems and strategies - with a healthy dose of off-topic stuff and humor. That expectation came, I think, from SBR's credibility in the industry.
I have a hard time getting used to the idea of SBR being just another dime-a-dozen outlet for spam and bad information and nerds playing internet games.
But like I say, maybe the only problem is my expectations and I just need to get over it and accept the way things are.

I have a real hard time with that too.
The forum is new to the SBR team, just 2 months old. We have 11 full time employees and 4 part timers in 3 offices in 3 countries. I'm not trying to make excuses but I guess I am. We are much busier than we thought we would be and we are trying to figure out how best to manage the forum. We will continue to add to the mod team and develop policies that insure the SBR Forum is a fun place to post and be a part of. |

SBR's credibility doesn't pass through its forum posters. We're responsible for our own posts and to suggest that mods should ban a poster for making funny posts, as ridiculous and nonsense those might be, is an exaggeration. What's next? Those with a bad picks record should be banned? What about newbies who don't know net etiquette?
If you find one of JJ's post ridiculous, why do you take the time to post a hostile reply, insulting him, knowing this will result into a bashing contest? Plus, your reply brings the thread back on top.
If you can't ignore a poster, you can't read any forum. Plain and simple, people won't change their personality only to accomodate you.
As for JJ, if he is on SBR payroll, he needs to be seriously warned and asked to apologize for starting a threatening thread towards members of this community. Nothing wrong with joking around but if you can't take the heat your posts are provoking, you need to take a break, take responsibility for it and be put on a leash.

I don't have problems with anyone here, it's just a disccusion board. But I do have problem with multiple aliases. If JJ and Raider are the same person. SBR needs to get rid of one.

I think when half the posts are all about bickering members, it DOES drag the quality of the forum down. It's like watching a movie and half of the movie sucks and the other half is great; you simply can't ignore the sucky half.
Personally, I actually did not have too much of an expectation of the forum and for the first 2 weeks of using the forum I found that it was GREAT. I built my high expectations on those first 2 weeks but those days are gone now.
Of course, I still post but it sad to see a bunch of kids on this forum.

Agree 100%. I thought JJ was alright and that he knew his stuff when I first started posting here. Its just annoying now. The ego, the meaningless posts, "General Manager" BS, and thinking that we're all jealous? Its getting sickening and its getting out of hand. He's doing much more harm than good to this forum.

That was a long time ago. JJGold is one of the best cappers around and I've learned a great deal from him. Radiers too is one of the best cappers out there and I've learned immensely from him. We were all a little naive back in those days.....
