Some really off the wall comments here. Sep 7th-9th the pirates got 97,000 in attendance for 3 games vs the cubs (who suck something awful).

Granted thats a weekend series but now a team youre fighting with for the playoffs a couple weeks later you get maybe 1/4th of that. Its weird to see, and yes i know back to school matters a lot in mlb.

Its true, fans are fickle everywhere. But in comparison, the brewers were further back last week than the pirates last night, and got 34,000 27,000 and 37,000 last mon/tues/wed

Lowest attendance in a brewers game all year is 26,778 so maybe you needed to try harder or pick better games in that 20-pack

Seriously though, kudos on the 20, makes you a season ticket holder, doesnt cost much more than 10 since they discount them, and then you can pick whichever games you want

If you dont like the thread you can quit posting in it.

My point has been the same all along, 10 years ago when brewers/pirates were fighting for last then attendance like that is understandable.

But now? Sad to see, maybe the team would play better lately if more people in pittsburgh showed up and supported them?

Yeah that cop incident was sickening. Used to be cops could only beat people down if they were posing a threat to cop's safety which that guy didn't appear to be coming close to doing

Still think we need more explanation on the horrible attendance for the following teams, more than Pirates

    White Sox
    Baltimore
    Oakland

hell even Cincy and Washington are just a few thousand per game better than the Pirates

Twins attract a lot of fans for some reason...

Top 8 in attendance % wise.

I love how a lot of people are bashing the Brewers and trying to compare them to the Pirates.

We have a pretty good franchise. It isn't our fault that we don't have a great tv market and can't afford to keep our best players when they get good.

Yeah I know we suck. We only made the NLCS and produced a MVP last year.

Mike, the brewers also locked a bunch of people into 2012 season tickets last year so that fans could secure playoff seats for 2011. Also the brewers have been playing good ballwhile pirates have sucked for a bout a month now so to conpare attendence from a week or even two weeks ago doesn't make sense.

A more applicable comparison would be to look back at the 2008 attendence when the brewers were floundering and canned ned yost. Attendence was real poor at that time for the brewers, who like the pirates did not have the luxury of a bunch of locked in season seat holders and had a 20+ year history of losing. I was a 20 game holder in 2008 as well and I also remember low attendence when they were floundering. Not to the extent of the pirates but it was pretty bad.

You can stubhub seats for under a buck before fees to brewers home games right now also. In fact its pretty easy to get free seats to any given game if you just stand outside the gates around first pitch. People who just want to go in and have spare seats will give them to you if you're an obvious brewers fan.

As far as your pick better games comment goes, I take all bobblehead, saturday, and marquee games for my fans choice so I don't think that's the problem. They are terrace box seats which is more likely the issue ... But heck they are a good vantage point and you can't beat 20 games for 350 bones.

    Go crew.

I still love going to the games but friends are tired of watching guys make 25 million , stink , an then walk around like a peacock. Look at all the teams trying for the playoffs that choke an when the game is over could care less that they lost

That is more than a bit frustrating. As fans we are much more emotionally invested than players or coaches. I was a brewers fan going to games before these players were born, and i'll still be here when they're retired or playing somewhere else

i did but i was only 13 at the time. my memories from back then are really hit or miss. i remember taking 10 people to playoff games/world series, i remember the cold/snowy games, but a lot of it i just don't remember.

we were good friends with the manager of the visiting clubhouse so we had great, free season tickets right behind home plate. which is part of the reason i don't like looking through a net or glass any more at baseball/hockey/etc games

I think all of MLB needs a facelift. The players hit the ball and jog to first like they've given up. The attendance is so poor at any given game besides the Yanks, Red Sox, and clubs like that, that have always been big. Rarely do you see a game on ESPN or TV in general, hell Tennis gets more air time than baseball. It's really sad this is where baseball is at right now.

On my drive back from work today, I was listening to the Pirate radio broadcast, Bob Walk and someone else. And literally you could hear how depressed they were on every pitch. 19 straight losing years, almost all of which have been in the lower division. All that losing takes a toll on people especially those involved with the organization and especially the fans. What would be the point of coming...game started at a weird time on a school day no less and the Pirates were playing a team they lose to basically every time. I don't blame Pitt fans at all.

Sucked last year cause STL was the worst possible matchup for MILW. Brewers were actually favored to win the WS last year among the final 4 teams (TX, DET, STL, MILW).

they have one of the best parks in the nation too. Its nuts. Milwaukee smallest market in baseball, and even they can draw 3+ million plus fans in average years, this was when the economy was shit too. If they can do it anyone can.
